Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub | Review

Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub

Today I’m going to talk about an amazing product that is Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub, they call it ’60-sec manicure’, quite true in word though. I purchased this hand scrub without any previous plan but being impressed by its amazingness in first use. So what happened that day, like always I was just roaming around in BBW store checking on some hand sanitiser and SA there insist me to try this hand scrub. I was like meh! Lets try…! She applied it in my hand, instantly I fell in love with the smell, startled seeing the amount of dirt came off from my clean (!) hand, and afterward my hand felt so soft and fresh. Just at that point I realised I have to take this amazingness home with me!

Bath and Body Works says:

This sugar-based exfoliating treatment makes quick work of dull, dry skin and ragged cuticles to give even the most mani-deprived hands a taste of soft, smooth, spa manicure perfection–in just one minute

Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub

5oz of Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub comes in a plastic jar with screw lid and a second lift-up lid inside. Nothing fancy on packaging. This scrub is mainly a sugar scrub with citrusy ( but sweet, kinda orange like) smell that is not much strong but last longer even after you wash your hand. I absolutely love how candy like it smells.
The jar is not pink, its transparent, the scrub is actually soft pink in color. There is some kind of soaping agent that lathers up lightly in contact with water.

How to use:
I wet my hands beforehand then directly apply half spatula (shown in picture below) in my both hand. I actually go up to my elbow because a tiny amount of product goes long way. I massage it on my skin, add teensy splash of water meanwhile to spread the scrub evenly, it lathers up by then. Concentrating of dryer area I keep massaging till all them sugars are dissolved, it takes around a minute or so. Then simply I wash that off and Ta-Da! Baby soft, clean and almost brand new hand every time… By the way, though it is a hand scrub I use it for my foot as well.

[wp_ad_camp_5][/wp_ad_camp_5]

Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub

I must mention I do follow up with a hand cream after every use.

Initially you will see gooey texture in Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub but with water contact it goes away. Exfoliating particles in this scrub is all sugar. The scrub literally exfoliate and clean all dead cells from skin without any harshness, helps to soften cuticles, doesn’t make skin dry either. This product truly gives spa feeling afterward.

In terms of price here in Malaysia, it’s not really a reasonable product but the way it works I myself wouldn’t bother to spend for it. I use this scrub 2/3 times a week to keep my hands and foot fresh, can’t even think of not using it.

I highly recommend Bath and Body Works True Blue Spa Hand Scrub to everyone. If you haven’t tried it yet then give it a try and I bet you’ll tank me later 🙂

Oh, hey… I would love to know what scrub/product you are using or loving right now for your hands? I always love to try new product so do let me know your recommendation in the comment box below.

Maybelline The NUDES Palette | Review & Swatch

24

Maybelline The NUDES Palette

The NUDES Palette, one of several ‘nude’ inspired eyeshadow palette that Maybelline launched last year but this palette is brand new here in Malaysia. Since last month (May’15) they are available in Malaysian store.

This palette is already hyped as a budget nude palette, also so many people compare this palette with Urban Deay’s Naked 2 palette. I won’t disagree, there are similarities in shade but I can’t really compare as I don’t own UD Naked 2 palette.

[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]

Maybelline The Nudes Palette

Maybelline The NUDES Palette comes with 12 different warm-bronzy nude-ish shade, in total 9.6g of product. The palette packaging is just a basic plastic shadow palette, nothing too fancy, there is also a sponge tip applicator.

The shade variety here in this palette is quite satisfactory, there is cream to black and delicate champagne to deep taupe. I also love the fact that all these shadow comes with variety of texture; there is matte, there is satin and there is couple of metallic shade.

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

Lets have a close look…
Maybelline The NUDES Palette

Swatch of the top row with out any primer or base (left to right)…

Maybelline The NUDES Palette

Swatch of the bottom row without any primer or base (left to right)…

Maybelline The NUDES Palette

Some eye shadows here in Maybelline The NUDES Palette are really pigmented and opaque without even primer but there are few that are not pigmented enough. While swatching I had to swipe black and the dark brown (last shade of both row) shade quite a few times to get the color. Where I expected the most pigmentation from those two dark colors.

Lighter shadows of this palette doesn’t really shows up against my skin tone, couple of them cause fall out and appears chalky aswell.

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

Now, the satin and metallic shades here are awesome in quality. They apply smoothly and appear with full opacity and give no fallout either. A big thumbs up for those shiny shade.

However, if you use a primer underneath then it is not difficult to work with Maybelline The NUDES Palette.

The eyelook below I created using only Maybelline The NUDES Palette…
Maybelline The NUDES Palette

Overall, I like the selection of shades and variety of texture in this palette. You can create lot of different ‘nude-ish’ look with those 12 shadows. It could be the perfect nude palette if those shadows were a bit better in quality.

In my opinion, this is a palette for beginners. Perhaps, a good gift for your little sister who just started with makeup!

Do you own it or eyed it? What is your thought? Do share 🙂

Elianto Long Wear Eyeshadow Stick | Review & Swatch

34

Elianto, a Malaysian home brand, recently launched its German-made Long Wearing Eyeshadow Stick. These are actually eyeshadows in a twist-pen form.

Elianto stick eyeshadow applies like velvet wears like a feather.

Am I being too dramatic with my words? That’s how the brand Elianto says about their Long Wear Eyeshadow Stick.

Elianto Long Wear EyeShadow Stick

Texturewise the eyeshadow sticks are cream-to-powder on the stick and applies effortlessly. These are very much blendable and turns into a soft, powdery and waterproof finish when dry. Also, these dry quickly.

Elianto Long Wear EyeShadow Stick

This new range of Elianto EyeShadow sticks comes with six shade variety; Navy, Blue, Purple, Brown, White, and Black. Their packaging is pretty much standard pen-like with a color-coded bottom. Each stick comes with 1.4g of product, the product stick is not thin like a pencil but a bit fat(!) than usual; again nothing bulky like NYX Jumbo pencil.

The colored bottom part actually acts as a sharpener, which makes the product more unique and useful.

Elianto Long Wear EyeShadow Stick

I have been using these Long Wear Eyeshadow Sticks for a couple of weeks now. They are simply effortless in use.

Let me be honest, I’m seriously enjoying them in my way. They remind me of NYX jumbo pencil but somehow I love these more.

The product claims to be eyeshadow but I like them more as my eyeshadow base. All of them are insanely pigmented, they won’t budge unless you touch them but they aren’t really smudge-proof. When you wear them as shadow and blend them they do loose intensity. Therefore when blended they don’t really look nice; I guess that is pretty much normal for all creamy shadow stick out there, even my Laura Mercier shadow stick act same.

Waterproof? Yes, as they are wax-based so they are waterproof and don’t come off with water.

However, if you use these shadow sticks as a base for your shadow then they work wonderfully. If you are familiar with NYX Jumbo pencil then you know already what I’m trying to say. As a base they are super long-wearing and budge-proof, won’t get into your crease and will help your shadow to pop up more.

Another best thing I found, these are great as eyeliner. Only black and white shade in the range is matte in texture but the other four shade is kind of shimmery or maybe I should say metallic. With that provided sharpener its easier to sharpen them and get a thin line upon application.

LongWear EyeShadow Stick
Elianto Long Wear EyeShadow Stick

I’m sure you can see from the swatch how pigmented are they, impressive, isn’t it?

The shade Navy is not actually a Navy but kind of teal green leaned more into the blue. The shade purple is more like a burgundy I would say. Nonetheless, I absolutely love all the colors yet Blue one is my favorite 🙂

Overall, though they didn’t work for me as shadow yet I’m in love with Elianto Long Wear Eyeshadow Stick. They are a quality product with the best value of money. I really wish they’ll come up with more color.

Beauty Favourites Of The Month | May’15

June is here!!! Time literally flies…! Hope the month of May has been great for all of you 🙂 If you are a regular reader of GreenStory then you already know from the beginning of 2015 I have started writing on ‘Beauty Favourites’ segment. In every other month, I’m writing ‘Beauty Favourites’ featuring few of my favourite beauty products that I’ve been loving in past months. Last time I posted ‘Beauty Favourites’ on March’15 (click here… to read) and its the time for a new one 🙂

[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]

I picked up six beauty product, that ‘ve been loving constantly in April/May, to share with you guys. Unlike last ‘Beauty Favourites’ post I’m seeing that I picked mostly makeup item this time. I’m wondering if I have been too much into makeup lately… ha ha!

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm(RM30 approx):
Burts Bees Lip Balm

Absolutely loving this lip balm ever since I got it. I usually don’t like anything with mint but surprisingly I’m completely in love with its peppermint tingling sensation. Burt’s Bees Beeswax lip balm soothes and heals chapped lips fast and effectively as well as it seals moisture into lips for long. I’m using this tin version but they are also available in chapstick form. I highly recommend this product if you’re suffering from dry lips.

Elianto Longwear Eyeshadow Sticks(RM30) | Blue:
elianto longwear eyeshadow stick
elianto longwear eyeshadow stick swatch

Elianto, a Malaysian home brand, last month launched a set of long wearing eyeshadow sticks. I’ve been using a full set of them in a various shade and this blue shade turns out my favourite. Elianto Longwear shadow sticks are actually eyeshadows in a twistable pen form which you can also use as a liner. This product is creamy in texture, well pigmented and long lasting. I’ve been wearing and loving this particular ‘Blue’ shade mostly as eye liner.
A detailed review and swatch of whole set is already up on blog, read that (here…) if you are interested to know more 🙂

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pan($5) | Latte:
MakeupGeek eyeshadow latte
MakeupGeek eyeshadow latte swatch

I don’t have enough words to explain how much I’ve been loving this Makeup Geek eyeshadow in shade ‘Latte’. Latte is a warm brown shade, slightly leaned into red hue, which is just beyond perfect as crease color, as well as a prime lid shade depending on personal preference. It’s been performing as the best transition shade for my eye makeup. I was also reaching for this only whenever I wanted a neutral eye makeup. If you don’t own this shade yet you must get it.

Essence Gel Eye Pencil(RM13) | Urban Jungle:
essence gel eyepencil
essence gel eyepencil swatch

At the beginning of May, I almost accidentally noticed this eye pencil in Essence stand. Earlier that I was completely unaware of this gel eye pencil range by Essence. They have 5/6 shade in this range including this green(slightly teal) one. Trust me guys. I’m uber surprised of how good it is. Of course, I love the shade most and guess what, it is smudge proof once it’s dry. So creamy to apply, how pigmented it is you can see from the swatch picture and this pencil is retractable. Best in price and best in quality, simply love this gel eye pencil.
I have a full review on this coming up soon, so keep your eye on!

[wp_ad_camp_5][/wp_ad_camp_5]

NYX Eyebrow Gel($6.99) | Brunette:
NYX brow gel
NYX brow gel swatch

I’m using the shade Brunette in NYX Eyebrow Gel range, I found this is the perfect match for my brows. This brow gel comes in a tube packaging and of course in gel form. Very smooth, creamy and pigmented to apply and once it dries turns into matte texture and waterproof form. I’ve been really liking the product though I don’t find the packaging friendly enough for a brow gel.

Tarte Pin Up Girl Blush Palette (RM165 | $42):
Tarte pinup girl blush palette

Got this Tarte blush palette long ago, during 2014 holiday season, and I don’t have any idea why I never really talked about this. I have been loving this palette ever since eventually this was one of the best purchase from that time. Each of the blush shade here is well pigmented(you need just a little for one application), long wearing, matte and very smooth to apply. This palette is travel-friendly, also works great if you mix the colors together to create a new shade.

So, those are a few of my favorite products from the month of May. If you want to know a little more detail of any then let me know. Also get involved in the comment box below, let me know what you have been enjoying in past month and if you like this kind of ‘favorites’ post or not 🙂

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation | ‘Skin But Better’ Finish

52

Finally, I was able to manage time to write about my favorite foundation for daily wear! Yes, I’m kinda coming straight to the point saying that Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation has been my favorite ever since I started using it. Sadly, this product is really underrated by people!

Urban Decay NakedSkin Foundation

Urban Decay say’s:

[color-box]

Coverage without compromise. Our weightless formula blurs imperfections for a flawless finish that feels invisible but looks professionally retouched. Whoever said ‘you can’t have the best of both worlds’ never tried Naked Skin. Not only does our new light-as-air foundation give you the buildable coverage you desire – it also looks and feels like you’re wearing absolutely nothing.

[/color-box]

Urban Decay Naked Skin FoundationUrban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation also claims to be infused with so many good ingredients such as Vitamin E, Green Tea, Anti-ageing Peptides and so on. Getting anti-aging benefit from a foundation definitely tempting especially who is in their late 20’s like me and started having those scary aging sign.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

The foundation comes in a very classy glass-like plastic bottle. It has a pump to dispense product which I always appreciate when it’s a foundation. A foundation with a pump makes it easier to maintain hygiene as well as it gives you more control on use. The bottle comes with 30ml of product which is pretty much standard for any foundation.

The best part about Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation is it offers a huge variety of shade. There are total 18 shades in this range with the warm and cool undertone. So you can easily choose your shade according to your undertone.

Urban Decay Naked Skin FoundationUrban Decay Naked Skin Foundation

My Experience with Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation:

I picked the shade 5.5, it’s in the cool undertone, which is a good match for my skin normally but in summer my match straight up goes to 7. Matching foundation and skin are confusing, you know right?!

So, let’s talk about my experience with this foundation. I have been a loyal fan of this foundation for 8+ months now. Before getting Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation I was in a search for foundation, which is mainly lightweight and thin in texture that I can wear every day. I used to wear BB/CC creams (Lakme, Garnier or Pond’s)  but got bored. I wanted a foundation that can make my skin looks like skin but more healthy. Appreciate the fact that I don’t have problematic skin and there aren’t many things to cover. A bit of concealer in more than enough! I ended up buying this one almost at own risk because no one seems to talk about this one much! Luckily it turned out as perfect as I was expecting.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation has fluid texture, almost runny, has no fragrance in it, blends effortlessly, and gives the demi-matte finish. This foundation gives light coverage initially but buildable to full coverage.

One layer of this foundation blur out minor spots I’ve and I can layer up to three coats for heavy coverage without being cakey. Demi-matte finish means it’s not matte at all but not dewy either. Sets into the skin within a minute but I prefer to use powder on top as I have combination skin. For its oil-free, water-based formula it doesn’t feel greasy on skin yet gives a beautiful healthy luminous finish after a while.

What I love the most is this foundation is seriously lightweight, lighter than anything I’ve used before and it’s long lasting. I even wore this during travel, 6hr flight plus four more hours here and there yet my foundation didn’t budge at all! It also doesn’t cling to dry patches but makes those areas look better.

Hands down, Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation has been performing as my HG foundation even when I was having sensitive skin issue!

Primarily this is a foundation for those who don’t have a lot of skin issue. It has been great for my combination skin; I believe it will work great on normal to oily skin as well. I found this foundation best applies to a buffing brush or dense sponge-like Real Techniques Miracle Sponge. You just need to shake the bottle well before use so that the fluid and pigments are evenly mixed; that is actually a rule for any fluid foundation. Do I recommend? Absolutely, without any doubt!

What is your Holly Grail lightweight foundation for daily use?

Sephora Private Sale Haul

Sephora Private Sale Haul

Yeeee….😆 It’s that happy time of the year for makeup lovers when Sephora Private Sale happens! 20% off is always a great deal to grab, isn’t it?

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

I had quite a few things in my mind to shop. I badly wanted to get some new shade of Stila liquid lipstick, been thinking to get Tarte Tartelette and Too Faced Semi-sweet Chocolate bar palette, I was also waiting for the new summer collection of Laura Mercier. I became sad seeing none of my desired Stila lipstick shade was in Sephora stock, Laura Mercier summer collection is not here yet, when I swatched Tartelette and Sei-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette it wasn’t up to the mark as I expected. Smashbox Double Exposure palette caught my eyes for a while, it’s beautiful but some of the shade aren’t really pigmented enough. So doing this and that I roam around almost 30 minutes! Obviously I was quite upset; I really wanted to pick something but couldn’t decide what to get because I didn’t really need anything! Makeup-holics problem you know!

However, I ended up picking Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette at the end and a Marc Jacobs Le Marc lipstick.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

I’ve been avoiding Naked palettes ever since because for my tawny skin tone a whole palette of nude/brown shade eventually a waste. Shade variety of browns doesn’t really appear on tan skin that vibrantly, I obviously need browns for my makeup (which I already have) but for that I definitely don’t need a pricey palette! wink wink~

This was definitely an impulse buy and I don’t know what I’m gonna do with it Yet finally I’m also in the Naked band wagon! Let’s see how it benefits my work.

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lipstick

This is my first lipstick from Marc Jacobs Beauty and I’m quite excited about this Le Marc lipstick purchase. I actually wanted to try them for long but never bought or even swatch one for some unknown reason. New range of Marc Nude lipsticks are in Sephora already but I found them quite sheer for my choice. Upon swatching the Le Marc lipstick range felt impressive so couldn’t resist to get one today.

… That concludes my Sephora private sale haul. My total bill was RM300 and with 20% discount I paid RM240 including GST, Happy Shopping 🙂

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

And then… I just randomly dropped by Lovisa Jewellery and Forever 21. Got nothing special though!

LovisaForever21

[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]

So, if you have a Sephora Black Card, and got the mail/sms invitation already then don’t miss the chance to shop. This sale is open to all Black Card holder till 23rd May’15. 20% off storewide! Shop as many times as you want and if you have a friend who want to shop along and she dent have a Black Card yet, they can also join by purchasing together with you.

MAC Wash n Dry Highlight Powder | Freshen Up

40

MAC Wash n Dry Highlight PowderMAC Wash n Dry Highlight Powder

MAC Wash n Dry Highlight Powder, Freshen Up(154RM/$35.50), one of the most anticipated recent release by MAC Cosmetics. Not only this highlight powder, Wash & Dry collection came up with whole lot of new and couple of permanent product with bright, fund and colourful summer inspired packaging. Just yesterday the collection were released online in North-America and as far as I know they will be available in store from 21st of May. I was lucky enough to get it earlier because here in Malaysia the collection launched in 30th April.

From the whole collection I picked the highlight powder, Freshen Up, only. I found this one is the most beautiful and unique product to have in my collection.

[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]

MAC Wash n Dry Highlight PowderMAC WashnDry FreshenUp4

MAC Says about Wash & Dry Highlight Powder Freshen Up:
[color-box]

Our new High-Light Powder features a unique gradation of three shades in one pan, from pastel banana through fuzzy peach to mid-coral. The final look is well polished with a sheer veil of colour that blends effortlessly into the skin. With an embossed design and pearlized overspray, this powder is truly a collector’s piece. Features specially designed packaging.

[/color-box]

MAC Wash n Dry Highlight PowderMAC Wash n Dry Highlight Powder

I can’t describe enough about the beauty of this limited edition packaging! I have been waiting since I saw the preview of the collection. I just had to have one at-least in my collection. Top of that how the tri-color highlighter layered here is just mind blowing. I literally didn’t wanted to touch and ruin the product at the beginning. Trust me guys, I didn’t touch it for two day and just kept staring at the product. However, at the end couldn’t resist experience the product 🙂

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

The highlighter pan comes with 9g of product and the whole powder divided in three shade. One is quite vibrant coral, middle one is soft orange-ish coral, last one is soft yellow almost off-gold shade. There was light overspray of gold dust but that goes away after first use.

Swatch below:
MAC Wash n Dry Highlight PowderMAC Wash n Dry Highlight Powder

[wp_ad_camp_5][/wp_ad_camp_5]

The powder texture is soft and smooth, almost blush like but nothing alike usual highlight powder. They gives sheen but doesn’t give intense light reflecting effect. All of them give semi-opaque pigmentation; the coral and orange-ish shade is great to use alone or together as blush and only the lighter shade seems to have some highlighting effect in it. However, When I mix them all and apply with a fan brush then it gives nice sheen in skin.

MAC Wash n Dry Highlight Powder

On my medium tan skin MAC Wash n Dry Highlight Powder gives very subtle and natural highlight. To me it is the most subtle highlighter that I own so far and doesn’t really act like usual highlighter. Though MAC named it ‘Highlight Powder’ but I would like to say its a combination of blush and light reflecting powder. However, this powder surprisingly last long in skin without fading. I wore(coral shade as a blush and mixed all to highlight) that last time for almost 7/8 hour and it was there intact till the end.

Overall, I absolutely love the colour selection of this powder, undoubtedly this is an unique one with its texture. It screams summer and I see myself wearing this quite often for daily makeup because it looks so natural on skin!

So, have you got anything from MAC Wash n Dry collection or eyeing on something to grab???

Custom Mix Lipstick | Lime Crime Velvetines Riot

Lime Crime Riot

Today’s post is about Lime Crime Riot but its quite different than usual because its a DIY post. If you are a makeup fanatic then I’m sure you’ll find this post interesting and helpful.

Ever since I saw this visual above of Lime Crime velvetines called ‘Riot’ I was completely obsessed with it. I definitely want to buy one but till now purchasing one hasn’t been convenient for me.

Earlier this week I was just randomly looking at my previously owned Lime Crime velvetines Suedebery and then suddenly a thought popped up in my mind, ‘why don’t I mix some lipstick and try making the shade Riot’. So right away I was off to make my own Riot!

[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]

I did researched a lot on web, found that the original Riot doesn’t really comes off exactly like the visual, it varies on skin tone. I love and wanted the shade in the visual regardless of how the Riot actually appears on peoples lip.

Therefore, after four hours of experiment I came up with the shade below….

Custom Mix Lipstick Lime Crime RiotCustom Mix Lipstick Lime Crime Riot

The shade I made is pretty close to the visual of Riot. Needless to say, it’s not possible to make exact same shade with limited resource and they also looking tad bit warmer and lighter in the picture here than real. However, at the end of everything I’m supper happy and satisfied with the outcome. I’m satisfied more because I was able to keep that liquid lipstick formula in this mix.

[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]

Here is how the custom mix ‘Riot’ looks in my lip…

Custom Mix Lipstick Lime Crime RiotCustom Mix Lipstick Lime Crime Riot

So, what you think???

Yes yes… I know you must be wondering how and with what I made this shade! No worries, Obviously I’m writing this post mainly to share that.
My mother mixing shade was, the velvetines I was looking at and got the entire mixing idea from, Suedebery. The velvetines tube you seeing in the picture was actually my Suedeberry. It was almost 3/4th full. I mixed three/four wand of Stila Patina liquid lipstick with Suedeberry first. The base shade alike Riot came up in fist hand but that was a bit pinky and light. Then slowly I started mixing LA Splash Untamed liquid lipstick(click here for review) with that Suedeberry+Patina mix to make the shade richer, I kept adding Untamed until I got the the depth of Riot. And then… Viola!

[wp_ad_camp_5][/wp_ad_camp_5]

I took all pictures in sunlight so the lipstick looks a bit warm but whatever it is I’m really loving the shade and literally wearing it everyday since I made it. As because I mixed only liquid lipstick so the formula is performing pretty good aswell, If I don’t eat oily food then it last until I take it off. However, I still want Lime Crime Riot and hopefully will get one soon and then I will be able to compare between the mix I made and the original.

Do you own Lime Crime Velvetines Riot? Do let me know how you loving that and what you think of my custom shade 🙂
