Zoeva Luxe Face Brushes & My Thoughts!

I badly needed to replace some of my face brushes so needless to say, that was my chance to grab some Zoeva brush. Zoeva has various range of brushes but I went for the Luxe range. White bristles attract me always because that makes me clean them regularly.

These Luxe Face brushes I got also comes with different sets. I went for singles just to pick the one I needed. Each of these single brush comes with zip-bag and brush guard. Awesome, right?

Aren’t they look gorgeous???

Yes, they are also mind-blowing in real. What I love most about Zoeva brushes is their perfect sized barrel. They aren’t short like travel-sized brush yet not even long like other brushes that make you uncomfortable while holding. From the handle to ferrule to bristle every part of these brushes reflect high quality. You can literally say at first look that they are made with care.

Bristles of this particular ‘Luxe’ range comes with mix fiber/ hair. They are so soft yet firm to touch, packs up just right amount of product. I was surprised to see that they are nothing bad but even better if I compare them with my sigma brush bristle. A better option with cheaper price, I’m totally in love with Zoeva!

Let’s talk about the brushes I got…

This brush is made of natural-synthetic hair(mix of both I guess). It has a flat precise top which is specially made for sculpting/contouring. I wanted to try this particular brush for long to experiment with my countering skill a bit more. At first use, I felt this brush is a bit smaller in size than I need, for the faster application I needed a bigger size to cover more space. However, that might be just my habit of using a bigger brush. Right now trying to get used to it. I must mention this brush is fabulous shaping nose and such areas.

Zoeva 126 Luxe Cheek Finish: $21.42/RM67

To me, this face makeup brush seems almost similar to the Face Paint Brush 109. Has the same kind of bristle(mix of natural-synthetic hair) but just the top is rounded and a bit bigger in size. Well, it’s stupid to tell them similarly. They aren’t similar in any way. Actually, it looked similarly sized in website picture while I was purchasing.
Zoeva says it’s a multi-purpose brush. I agree with that. I got this brush for the purpose of highlighter application but it seems to work great for contouring as well.

This angle shaped brush is made with natural hair. Has perfect bristle length and density. Works excellent for blush and bronzer application, as well as the highlighter. Love it!

Zoeva Cosmetics luxe face brush

I already washed these face brushes twice and haven’t noticed any fallout. They are even easy to clean, doesn’t build any stain either(till now). I must mention, with the cream product they work ok yet as because their bristles are not fully synthetic so they won’t be performing well with the liquid product.

I purchased these Zoeva brushes through Sephora. It was fast and easy as well as cost-effective to buy through them rather buying directly from Zoeva Cosmetics Website. They do offer international shipping. Just check if that includes your country). 

I already made my mind for my next Zoeva purchase, loved these brushes this much!

If you are a regular reader then you already know earlier this mont I was invited by Sephora to participate their ‘Mystery Mascara Test’ event. One tube of  Mascara(without brand label) was given to me and I was suppose to try and state my thoughts(read here) on that. Unveil party of that ‘Mystery Mascara’ happened last 14th February in Sephora, Starhill. I was honoured to be one of the lucky guest in that amazing party. Thanks to Sephora and Benefit Malaysia. No surprise, that mystery mascara was another new invention by none other than Benefit Cosmetics.

Sad part first, I forgot to bring my camera at the party so, couldn’t really capture beauty and glam of the event. My phone was my only buddy to help! The Party was full of fun activities and then the launch.

We got to know so many infos and behind scenario and motivation of the Roller Lash mascara. I was surprised to know eyelash curler first invented in 1931 and we, now in 21st century, still depending on that to beautify our eyelash. Benefit says, we needed some easier and modern alternative of eyelash curler, which I totally agree. Therefore, the Benefit Roller Lash mascara comes as an easier and more effective stubstitue of eyelash curler. Hats off to Benefit!

Lets talk about the actual product now…

Like all other Benefit product this new Roller Lash mascara packaging is incredibly cute. One full size mascara contains 8.5g of product. In Malaysia it’ll be priced around 95RM. I was told, from the first week of march Benefit Roller lash mascara will be available in Sephora and Benefit boutique to purchase.

Before saying anything about the quality and performance of Roller Lash mascara I would suggest you to read(here…) my thoughts I stated before when I didn’t even know the brand name. You’ll know my true opinion.

Ever since I got this mascara I’m loving it like never loved any mascara before only because how it lift up lashes. The hook n roll method of Roller Lash mascara works wonder, curls and lift it gives last long and it is quite easy to remove. However, I found this mascara doesn’t work much to lengthen lashes.

Do I recommend? Yes ofcourse, if you are tired of struggling with eyelash curler you must give this Benefit Roller lash mascara a try. I’m sure you won’t regret.

Today I created a daytime appropriate Asian style smokey eye. Since I’m living around so many Asian’s now I’m literally obsessed with their eye makeup. Being a South-Asian definitely my eye structure isn’t same so i did tried to improvise the look. In one side this look is glam with touch of dark smokiness and other side its wearable anytime anywhere.

I used a kajal as my black base here but you can also use any gel liner, that will work the same. Hope you liked the look. You can change the teal color if you want and create more variation of this look.

Hope you all doing well. I have already individually reviewed few of Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipcolors I got. Today though to bring them all in one post. Hoping this post will help you to match and compare colors easily.

Wet n Wild has vast range of color selection in their MegaLast Lipcolor range. I have six of them. They are (left to right)…

1. Dollhouse Pink
2. Pinkerbell
3. Cherry Picking
4. Sugar plum Fairy
5. Purty Persimmon
6. 24 Carrot Gold

 Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipcolor’s Packaging is just basic and simple yet lid is somewhat not that user friendly. It is quite impossible to close the lid without poking the lipstick itself.  The lipsticks smells almost nothing.

Texture of these lipstick are semi-matte, non-drying. Color pay off is outstanding. Darker shades leaves strong stain in lips. These lipstick transfers quite easily, they last around 4/5 hours on lip if you don’t eat or else.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lipcolor’s are already very popular for its price and quality however after using them for long I have slight different opinion for them now. I won’t say they are bad in anyway but it feels quite heavy on lips unlike other lipstick I’ve used which I’m not liking anymore. Probably, its just my conscious, you might not feel the same!

24 Carrot Gold:
The shade is quite similar with the color of carrot but with a bit pastel touch in it. Its an orange but there is some coral tone. This shade might not be suitable for everyone yet whoever loves orange shade I’m sure they can pull it off.

Purty Persimmon:
Purty Persimmon is also mentioned in the label as Reflect Orange. In my eyes its a bright orange toned red. Yes its not any orange, its a Red color but with warm orange tone in it. Color might vary in lip tone. I guess, anyone having fair complexion will find Purty Persimmon more vibrant and orangish!

Sugar Plum Fairy:
This color is some kind of dark coll toned plumy or berry fuchsia though varies on light effect. Has strong blue undertone in it. People says it right, this shade is a perfect dupe of the famous MAC Rebel.

Cherry Picking:
This shade is quite a perfect cherry red but with a very strong pink undertone which makes it somehow deep fuchsia specially with white indoor ligh you will see nothing but a deep fuchsia color. However, in day light its a cherry/cool pink toned red.

Pinkerbell:
Pinkerbell or Tendre Rose(as mentioned in the packaging) is slightly coral toned pink. The color tone is soft but quite loud, bright and pastel, way more vibrant when you put it on lip.

Dollhouse Pink:
Doll house Pink is  mentioned in the label as a rosy purple. In my eyes its slightly blue toned baby pink, an opaque dolly pink or somewhat lilac-pink. Color is way more bright when applied on lip. Pastel in texture.

Sephora Malaysia Gave me this amazing opportunity to participate in a Mystery Mascara Test. Yes, Sephora got it right, we beauty obsessed people love to try and discover latest must-haves.

In this event I received a mascara tube with no label in it. Sephora artist was there to teach me how exactly I’m suppose to apply this mascara. Then It was given to me to try out and share my thoughts. The point of this Mystery Mascara Test was to try product without knowing the brand so that I can share my fresh thoughts without having any brand influence.

Sephora also mentioned this mascara is going to worth around 95RM. The mascara will be unveiled in Malaysia this coming 14th of February. Needless to mention, I already fixed my date with Sephora for this years Valentine day 😛

My thoughts on this Mystery Mascara:

The mascara comes with an unique, a little curvy and thin but sturdy wand. There is some hook like bristle in inner curve of the want and rest are random. As I was told, there is an exception in its application procedure to get maximum effect from this product. You need to hook lashes with those hook-like bristles and then roll the brush as you prefer.

Application procedure is really interesting but you might need a bit of practice to avoid mess. I was surprised in my first application how this wand and hook-roll method lift up my lashes. Honestly, I never got this effect without using a lash-curler.

I think you can notice from after picture how beautifully this mascara worked on my lashes.

In terms of consistency and pigmentation this mascara meets my satisfactory level. If you can use the wand properly your lashes will be uplifted and curled looking in one application. With second coat it gives length and volume.  I went for a third coat before my 2nd coat was dry and ended up getting clumps and mess. So there is the point you need to be careful, this mascara takes a minute to dry, you have to give it time to rest before loading up several coats.

This mascara is not waterproof, does smudge if not dry, lashes stays curled and lifted as long as you don’t remove. Yesterday I wore this mascara for almost six hour and I was impressed with it. Didn’t bother me with any eye sensitivity issues either. Lastly, its easy to remove as well.

Overall, I think this mascara is going to be a must have who has natural long lashes. Trust me guys, its amazingly effective on giving your lashes a lift.

ELF Makeup Mist and Set ($3), Probably this is the cheapest makeup setting spray available on the market. Which is why ELF Makeup Mist and Set is quite popular as well. It comes in a not-so-fancy plastic spritzer bottle with 60ml of product.

Water (Aqua), AMP-Acrylates/Allyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate (VE), Retinyl Palmitate (VA), Ascorbyl Palmitate (VC), Green Tea Extract, Aloe Arborescens Leaf Extract, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben, Phenoxyethanol.


ELF Says:

ELF Makeup Mist and Set keeps your makeup in place all day with a radiance boosting invisible hold. The invigorating mist moisturises and soothes the skin with key ingredients Aloe, Green Tea, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E. The lightweight, comfortable and alcohol free formula improves makeup wearability and prevents colour from running or fading. Spray on after makeup application to set makeup in place or during the day for a quick touch up to refresh.


Application:

After you have applied your makeup spray a light mist 12-16 inches from your face with eyes closed to set your makeup in place or use for a quick touchup throughout the day to refresh your makeup. Let it dry naturally or blot with a tissue to help speed dry.

My Experience with Elf Makeup Mist:

Especially when the weather around you is humid and you love to wear make up a setting spray is a must to prolong makeup throughout the day. Another important fact is no one want powdery look in their makeup which is why you need a setting spray.

The current bottle I’m using is my third one. I’m using it not because it works just the way it claims but at some point, it works and its cheap. ELF Makeup Mist and Set does wipe away the powdery appearance of makeup, leaves a settle finish but doesn’t provide any radiance or glow as it claims. Some say it gives the dewy finish, I do not agree with that, my skin stays matte after application. In terms of holding makeup, it helps compared to not using any setting spray. Some people compare it with Urban Decay’s setting spray which I completely decline. Yes, this product does prolong your makeup’s lasting power but at no point its close to the high-end performance.

The product itself has no color to it, does have some kind of smell, but that goes away after a while. It feels a bit heavy on the skin when applied yet once it dries it feels ok. Apart from makeup setting, I like this product for another reason. It works wonderfully to wet eyeshadow or pigment, really helps to make colors more prominent and keeps them in place. It is also great as a mist for using throughout the day to refresh and hydrate skin.The last thing, the bottle is classic to look at and travel-friendly in size, but I don’t like the spritzer, it doesn’t spritz evenly. I hope someday ELF will improve its spritzer quality.


Overall, ELF Makeup Mist and Set is not a top-notch product but more than enough for basic needs. I like it for my day to day random use. For its price, I think it worth to give it a try.

Overview: January 2015

I can’t believe 2015 started, January is gone and it’s February already! It feels the time is flying faster than light speed. Let’s be practical, this is life! So, I’m saying ‘Hello February’ today, trying to document tad-bits of how I started the year and how was the month of January for me.



For me, 2015 came with lots of changes.
First of all, I and family decided to stay in Malaysia for a while. So we moved in an uphill town called Damansara Perdana. I freaking love this place already because it’s green, calm and quite all around.

Then… me… to kick start a new year I went for a haircut at 31st eve!
I was carrying full fringe with plain layers for so long, needless to say, I got bored. I keep my hair open most of the time and don’t really style much. For my new cut, I was determined to have some texture in hair that will be visible in open hair without styling. I described my vision to the hairstylist, wasn’t sure if there is any formal name of the cut. We talked a lot about what I want, she suggested me a lot what would be better for me. Then finally, she literally sliced off my hair from inside. It was quite an experiment for both of us. At the end, I was happy seeing her expertise. She gave me exactly the cut I visualised. I’m sure my hair will take the time to grow in full after this but it looks so flattering now with texture and all without doing anything.

And… January was my birthday month!
I turned one more year old! Passed the night before and the day with lots of activities like dinner, movies and all, of course, credit goes to Mr. husband. The looks below I wore for my birthday…

In January 2015, for the first time, I sat for a professional makeup workshop under Lancôme! It was a short-term workshop but hell of an exciting event for me.

….and then… my wedding anniversary was in January as well.
Also, a lot more random things happened in past month like I started reading some new book, started watching new series, trying to learn the Malay language, obviously shopped a lot and trying to cope up with the new place.

A special incident happened in January. Did you notice I didn’t blog last month? Do you wonder why? Probably my website got jealous of those changes and good things I was having in my personal life so it decided to crash. Yes friends, in January, all of a sudden I had to experience website database crash. This was a shock from January. However, It took me a month but managed to recover somehow. Better late than never, right? Feeling happy that I’m finally blogging today and hoping to move further smoothly.

Overall, January has been a month with multi-dimension. Now at this moment wondering what February will bring!
