IM FROM Ginseng Serum | Do you need Ginseng in your skincare for a healthy skin?

I’ve been eyeing on I’m From skincare range for quite sometimes. Then late April got so happy when I was sent the newly launched Ginseng Serum by the brand IM FROM. I was using the Hadalabo Lifting & Firming Serum before that and I badly wanted a change.

This month of May I was living with this Ginseng Serum by IM FROM. And now, after using this for three weeks continuously, I think it’s the time when I can share my Ginseng Serum experience with you guys.

First of all, I love the minimal packaging of this serum. There is nothing fancy but a simple seethrough glass dropper bottle with gorgeous brown serum in it. Minimal packaging and the look of the serum from outside kinda speaks that, “try the best I’ve inside me’!

What is this Ginseng Serum according to the brand IM FROM?

I’m From Ginseng Serum is an MFDS (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety) certified anti-wrinkle product. The serum Contains [6-year-old] 7.98% Ginseng Extract. Claims to increase elasticity, nourish and rejuvenate the skin. The serum is clearly suggested for middle age aka above 30 skin.

Ginseng is a very well known ingredient in anti-aging skincare around the world. It is slightly more popular in Asian countries, ancient Chinese beauty history says the Ginseng herb, ‘the herb of youth’. This Asian herb is also known to even out and brighten up skin tone.

I did use products that have some sort of ginseng in them before. But I’ve never used a product that has this high concentration of actual pure ginseng extract in it. I’m sure you can already guess how excited I was to try out the serum.

Apart from the holy Asian anti-aging Ginseng herb, this new serum by IM FROM also contains vitamins, minerals, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants.

Im From Ginseng Serum Review

Are you wondering if IM FROM Ginseng Serum is appropriate for your skin and age?

I’m in my 30th right now and I’ve got a combination skin type. Honestly, I was slightly nervous at the beginning about this Ginseng thingy. The serum looks completely like honey from outside of the bottle. It gave me a feeling that it might be sticky. Thank goodness that it didn’t turn out that way.

The serum has a nice consistency, not thick at all but a bit more than the line where I would call it thin. It smells something very soft and sweet and somewhat herby. I’m not sure how should I describe the scent but it’s there but goes away when applied.

If you don’t like fragrance in your skincare then you might not like it. In my case, I like things with a nice scent. Of course, I wouldn’t tolerate a scent in my skincare which is strong like a perfume!

 

How I use Ginseng Serum by IM FROM?

I must mention, along with my combination skin type, the weather is always very hot here in Kuala Lumpur. I added the IM FROM Ginseng serum in my morning and basically daytime skincare routine.

The serum applies with ease but it feels a tad sticky (but not overly greasy and at a tolerable level) on the skin. After a few uses, I reduced the amount to see if I was using too much that was causing stickiness. That turned out to be the wrong thing I was doing!

In the beginning, I was using a full dropper when it gave me a sticky feeling. Then I started taking only 1/3 amount of the dropper and pat-apply it on my face. It felt better and non-sticky. I could easily reach for my moisturizer next.

It’s good that IM FROM Ginseng Serum isn’t any serum that would sting. For some unknown reason, I had this feeling before using it thinking about the C 21.5 Vitamin C serum. I am really pleased to find the Ginseng Serum as a very hydrating and moisturizing one. The serum makes the skin bouncy and soft almost instantly (I assume it’s because of the silicon derivate, Cyclopentasiloxane).

After three weeks of use, I’m noticing that the serum is performing very well maintaining my skin health. There is no lack of hydration, haven’t had any acne, bumps, rashes, or such either. Additionally, my makeup applies very nicely on top of this IM FROM Serum 😜 I like this serum!

However, about the anti-aging and wrinkle care benefits, I didn’t see any visible difference yet when I’m almost half of the bottle. I suppose that will take time.

 

Do I recommend I’m From Ginseng Serum?

– I do. It’s a good serum.

From my experience, I believe the serum will be suitable for all skin types if the weather is cold. On the other hand, it might not be suitable for overly oily skin and humid weather.

Don’t we all know how beneficial coffee scrub is for the body? Especially when it comes to instant cellulite reduction? [That’s a myth though in my experience. It only smooths out the skin by getting rid of dead cells. It can amplify the visibility of cellulite reduction only if you’re in a healthy diet and following a regular workout routine.] If you go through Pinterest then you’ll find thousands of homemade coffee scrub recipes. But rather taking all those steps of making the scrub what if we get it readymade?

I personally am a fan of all body scrub. If you’ve read my other post then you know my bath ritual is incomplete without a good body scrub. A readymade coffee scrub that has not only coffee but other good ingredients like coconut fruit, coconut oil, grape seed oil, dead sea salt, brown sugar, jojoba oil, vitamin E and etc – Body Breakfast Coffee Scrub. Yes, beautiful, I’m going to talk about why I’ve been loving this coffee body scrub nowadays!

Why I love Body Breakfast Coffee Scrub:

As I mentioned earlier, this Body Breakfast Coffee Scrub contains coconut oil and fruit (not the shell) crush, thus it smells heavenly. That’s the first reason why I love it. Secondly, as because it contains various kinds of oils so it doesn’t strip off the natural oils from the skin while exfoliation but leaves the skin extremely nourished. It feels kind even the day my skin is sorta sensitive. The scrub leaves my skin so soft that I barely feel the need to apply a body lotion afterward (but I do, can’t risk dehydrated skin after all).

Salt (read about my favorite salt scrub) and brown sugar assure the maximum effectiveness of exfoliation as well as free the skin from any harmful bacteria. Coffee is, of course, the main source of caffeine and there is antioxidant as well. Caffeine and antioxidant help to visibly smoothen, tighten the skin. Over time they also help to even out the skin tone and fight premature wrinkling. There are actually a lot of skin benefits of using a coffee scrub but no bad side to mention.

How I use Coffee Scrub?

Using a body at least once a week is a mandatory part of my weekly relaxing ritual or you can also say my bath ritual. To use a coffee scrub you must get into the shower because it’s a bit of a messy job to do. I like to soak in the hot water first for 15 minutes or so and then I apply my body scrub. Massage my skin as long as I need and then just simply rinse off the scrub.
The day I use the scrub I avoid soaps or shower gels. I like to enjoy the natural smoothness and fragrance the scrub leaves behind as long as possible.

Nay (!) facts of Body Breakfast Coffee Scrub:

The ingredient list says that it has Arabica coffee powder, I feel the amount of coffee is quite low in this. Arabica coffee usually contains a lesser amount of caffeine. I would love the scrub more if it had more coffee in it.
It comes in a zip lock packet which I find hard to use and re-use without losing the quality of the product. I felt insecure and replaced the packet with a jar to keep the scrub in a good intact condition.

SKin Care with HADA LABO Gokujyun Alpha Series [Lifting+Firming] for combination skin

I’ve posted the official claims and all details about this HADA LABO Gokujyun Alpha Series in my previous post. Today I want to talk about how this range worked on my skin. Now the first thing I want to say, all the product in this skincare range is super-rich. Contained hyaluronic acid, collagen, peptides are as rich as this range might feel a bit too heavy for some. Like for me and my dry-combination skin, this skincare range turned out crazy rich that I couldn’t use the altogether but one or two products hardly at a time.

Out of the 6 product (product list in my previous post), I’ve been using only five. I kept the Lifting and firming milk aside for later. and there is the sheet mask as well. Let me tell you one by one about them…

HADA LABO Gokujyun Alpha Lotion – Rich [RM 67.50]

As you can see from the picture, the consistency of this lotion is not clear but runny enough to easily spread it on the skin. I’ve been using it only in my morning skincare routine after a toner (Clinique Clarifying lotion). The lotion is alone enough to serve the purpose of a moisturizer. When I tried to top it up with another moisturizer my face became too heavy and sticky that I couldn’t tolerate. I wasn’t even able to follow up with a serum either. I’ve been using Kiehls Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution serum and it is lighter in consistency so I was applying it before the HADA LABO Gokujyun Alpha Lotion. Later, after 20 minutes or so I was opting for sunscreen or makeup. That was it for my morning skincare routine.

The Essence is my favorite among all 6 products from this skincare range. Again it’s a thick and rich essence. Gives sticky feeling if overloaded but serves the purpose of maintaining healthy, bright and youthful skin.
I’ve been using it in my night-time skincare routine, twice a week. I apply my Pixi Glow Tonic first and then pat this HADA LABO Gokujyun Alpha essence to soothe my skin. I wait a minimum of 15 minutes after the serum to fully get into my skin and opt for the next step.

After 15 minutes or so I was using Murad Retinol Serum, which literally gets into my skin right away without leaving a bit of greasy feeling. Then I would follow up with night cream or a sleeping mask.

HADA LABO Gokujyun Alpha Cream [RM 78.00]

This cream is not oily but annoyingly sticky. You can’t apply it directly on the face but you have to first spread it in your palm and then pat it on your face. It makes me confused about how it’s not oily but super sticky!

I’ve been using it only 3 times a week in my PM Routine. The day I was using this cream I would skip using the HADA LABO Gokujyun Alpha serum. The good fact is that the next morning I was getting an amazingly pumped and baby soft skin.

This wrinkle care cream is another example of extremely sticky cream that I’ve ever used! It feels like a glue that never dries up. But I like it and I’ve been tolerating it on purpose. Let me tell you why…
This cream is made to serve very targeted action for fine lines. I’ve been using it around my lips, eyes and my neck (a pea-size amount just over the lines), daily in my PM skincare routine. After using it for a couple of months now, I’m surprised to see how it smooths out the skin and maintains the appearance of fine lines.

The cream comes in a 30g tube, which is a lot to use upon lines because you just need a tiny bit. Considering the amount of product, its price and the way it works this is the most favorite product of mine from this Hada Labo Lifting & Firming Skincare range.

Overall, this Hada Labo Lifting and Firming skincare range is equally a hit and miss to me. My skin couldn’t appreciate them much because of their stickiness (my husband calls me ‘sticky-face’ ever since I’m using these products). There is only two product I see myself repurchasing is the Wrinkle Care Cream and the Sheet mask (which I’ll post about later).

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Why I Love Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask?

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is an intense lip product to revive dry lips or just to have a plumped lip overnight. Yes, it works just over night! Just slather a generous amount of this lip mask on the lips in your PM routine and you’ll get nice and soft lips in the morning. The thick gelly-ish texture sits on the lip nicely without sliding off. It does feel slightly sticky but it’s not a regular lip balm after all.

I, obviously, use it at night but sometimes during the day as well when my lip feels thirsty. For day time, I just take a wee-bit amount of product so it doesn’t give me any sticky feeling, works for me!

I haven’t found anything better than this yet that revived and hydrates my lips as fast as this one. The lip mask has a strong berryish, sweet scent in it and also taste (guilty, I always end up eating my lip balms) sweet. If you don’t like flavored lip products then you not going to like this for sure. I love flavored lip product anyway so this feels delicious to me.

Laneige Lipsleeping mask comes in a 20g jar and this pot lasts literally forever. It comes with a super cute spatula as well (I lost mine so couldn’t take any pic) which I really appreciate for any product that comes in a jar.

Until this year Laneige has only this berry flavor of this Lip Sleeping mask. Recently, I noticed that they came up with few new flavor as well. My next purchase will be their Apple Lime flavor for sure.
