My hair coloring obsession was giving me a lot of pain until I found a Semi-Permanent Hair Color solution that I can do at home. The colors I was doing at the salon was hardly lasting for a month and obviously, it’s not anything cheap to go for a hair dye every month.
Last month I randomly went to my husband’s favorite hair salon, was mine too a while ago where I did my pink hair color. I was discussing with Keith, director stylist, that I’m tired of the yellow tone of my hair. Can’t find a toner or any other solution to maintain it properly either. Then he showed me a lifesaver solution, Semi-Permanent Hair Color. I’ve been looking for something like that. And so, couldn’t resist buying that immediately.
The brand Elgon, made in Italy, I came across for the first time. I don’t know much about it just trusted my hair stylist because there isn’t any such thing I found here in KL so far. The color cost me RM130. The formula is paraben free and the pump jar contains 200ml of the product. I noticed in the saloon that they have a lot of color varieties as well. Not sure if this color is available anywhere else in KL.
How To Use Elgon I Care Semi-Permanent Hair Color
This is probably the easiest hair color to use. There is nothing to mix or care for the portion but a ready conditioner like formula. Of course, you’ll need a pair of gloves. Pump out the amount you need and apply generously all over your hair. Wait for 15-20 minutes and then wash off normally. The picture above is my before and after the result, in room light.
Although the color I used is deep violet, it gave me an intense purple look due to my previous dye condition. The end part of my hair was previously bleached. There were highlights and purple-brown dye as well. If I had a fresh hair the color would appear in its true form for sure.
The picture below is how the color looks under sunlight, more vibrant and shiny.
I love that this Semi-Permanent Hair Color instantly revives the dull look of my faded hair. It feels way too less damaging for hair. Somehow it gives me a feeling of a nourishing hair treatment after every application. This color lasts up to 5/6 wash and it gets faded gradually. Doesn’t transfer on clothes or so when dry but after a wash when the hair is wet you’ll see some color on the towel.
I’ve used the color 3 times now. Looking at the amount I still have, I can say it’s gonna last me 4-5 use more. I’m really happy with the color, its outcome, and the price I paid. Once I finish this bottle, I’m planning to experiment with a different shade of this color.
So what you think? Have you tried a Semi-Permanent Hair Color before?
Another impressive drugstore anti-aging skincare range I’ve been trying out for a couple of months now – Nutox Youth Restoring skincare range! I’ve received a full set (five products, including day cream, cleanser, and lotion) of new and improved Nutox Youth Restoring Skincare. Have been using these two so far, Nutox Advanced Serum Concentrate and Night Repair cream.
Are you on my Instagram? I talked a bit about Nutox in my insta-stories when I received them. Later posted a quick update with all other evening skincare products. Have you noticed that? I was supposed to write about this Nutox Skincare long ago but you know that moment when the love for a product is so high and so you keep thinking, ‘yeah I’m gonna write about it real soon’. Furthermore, I’ve been taking a lot of holidays past months – been kinda soul searching! Sorry for the delay in sharing!
Packaging wise, they are very decent and well made. They give a glass feeling, I’m not sure if they are glass or just some heavy glass-like plastic. I gotta drop them on the floor to be sure which I haven’t done yet… 😅!
I like the slim and slick size of the serum packaging with a glass dropper. I’d really appreciate if the cream jar came with a spatula or such to scoop out the product.
Nutox Advanced Serum Concentrate focuses on two key feature, Actigenic+, and B’Nest Collagen. Utilizing the powers of Macro Algae and Indian Gentian Extracts, Actigenic+ is an epidermis regeneration system that significantly firms up the skin, resulting in a more youthful complexion. The formula claim to dramatically reduce the effects of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of firmness.
Nutox Advanced Serum Concentrate is not as watery as a regular skin serum but a tad thick in consistency. However, it doesn’t feel thick on the skin but absolutely lightweight, glides on easily and gets into the skin within a second. Has no greasiness, skin feels supple and nourishes instantly.
The serum has a sharp floral (jasmine-like) scent in it. Which I didn’t like at the begging but got used to after a while. I’m not a fragrant-skincare hater but it’s definitely something to note.
I’ve been using it mostly in my daytime skincare routine also sometimes at night. After cleaning my face I opt for an exfoliating toner (Clinique Clarifying Lotion or Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Toner) first. Then I use this serum and later follow up with other targeted skincare product (for night time) and moisturizer. I’m about to finish the bottle very soon. I’ve been enjoying every drop of it mainly because it gives an amazing plump feeling to the skin. Which means, keeps my skin hydrated properly. Also didn’t cause any trouble to my skin.
On the press release there is a pretty strong claim about this serum – ‘Look your youngest in 7 days’ which felt a bit too mouthful! Aside from how the serum was helping me to balancing my skin I didn’t really find it that magical. I wasn’t having any bad skin situation either to notice any drastic change. Perhaps it was doing such things, I don’t know, it’s hard to say!
All the marketing speak aside, what I believe after this long trial, it’s a good anti-aging serum that does things it’s supposed to do. Maintain and balance without irritating the skin. It keeps me feeling comfortably hydrated all day long. It also goes nicely with other skincare products or under makeup.
I’m going to rave about this Nutox Night Repair cream straightforward with my full conscious. I like this night cream!
If you look at the ingredient list you’ll see a lot of active hydrating properties are there which intrigues me the most. There is also vitaminC (Ascorbic Acid) and other skin brightening properties that are helpful to even out the skin tone. I was skeptical at the beginning seeing a few oils in the ingredient list thinking it might fell greasy. I’m glad it didn’t turn out so!
It has a similar scent as the serum but not that strong. The texture of this cream is rather thick but sinks right into the skin without leaving any sort of residue. It leaves my skin super smooth and somehow silky afterward. To my surprise, I found that this cream actually helped me to calm down my skin in those nights when my skin was going through a sensitivity issue.
In a nutshell…
My skin likes both of them Nutox skincare product. I can’t say if they work exceptionally, but they are a very nice basic skincare serum and moisturizer to incorporate in your skincare, that is affordable and does what it says. I believe they’ll be suitable for normal to oily skin types very easily. The vastly dry skin might need something additional to balance out the dryness.
Have you tried any NUTOX skincare? What are you favorite serum at the moment?

A while ago I was introduced to Omorose Cosmetics. Their super cute yet simple packaging composition got me in the first hand. Also being a Malaysian brand their product versatility is impressive. I was giving all them home brand goodies a good try till now. Let me tell you how they worked for me…
About Omorose Cosmetics:
Omorose, the ancient Egyptian word means Beautiful. This Malaysian brand (made in Taiwan) was founded in 2014 by Terry Liau, a make-up artist specialised in Prosthetic Makeup and Special Effect Makeup.
Omorose ensured the quality and safety of their product by using only natural preservatives where needed. Harmful components like parabens, phenoxyethanol, phthalates and mineral oil are excluded from their ingrediesnt list. This is also a cruelty free brand.
Omorose AINGEAL – Colour Neutraliser
These neutralisers claim to be an all time companion for an even skin tone. These come with two universal shades, X Blue & Brown (Light Coral) and X Red/Highlighter. They also contain SPF 35++ UVA / UVB protection.
Apply directly to the skin, before foundation if you want to neutralize uneven skin tone. Blend into the skin with fingertips or a brush, and allow 15 to 20 seconds for it to set in. Set with a setting powder for a long lasting result.
I love the X Red/Highlighter one most as I don’t have much uneven skin tone issue. This has a yellow tone in it. I apply it over my foundation, around my undereye are to highlight it. It gives a nice brightening effect.
Omorose BB Stick Sunscreen Foundation
I love that the BB Foundation Stick has SPF35, UVA/UVB protection in it. It comes with 3 different shades for fair to medium skin. One stick contains 20g of product which is quite a lot.
A stick foundation is always convenient to use and travel-friendly. Initially, I thought the shade Medium-Tan will go with my tan skin and I was very excited about it. Sadly the shade turned out way lighter than my skin (my skin shade ref) to use it.
Hope Omorose releases more shades of this BB stick in future.
[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]
Omorose Satyn – Superfine Finishing Powder | diamond
This is a colorless fine finishing powder. The pot comes with 6g of product and a puff applicator. They have two types of this Styn Finishing powder, one is matte and one is this one, Diamon, with some kind of shiny specks in it. I picked diamond for me. Needless to mention, the shiny specks in it caught my eyes. Although I couldn’t really capture this shine it has and gives when applied but I like the effect on the skin.
This finishing powder gives a complete matte yet satin overlook on the skin and locks other product, like foundation or concealer, very well. I would suggest applying it as the last step of your makeup because once you set your makeup with this powder you won’t be able to move anything else later.
Hypnotic Eyes | Silky Eyeshadow Duo – Aishwarya
Hypnotic Eyes Silky Eyeshadow Duo has 3 shade varieties as far as I remember. I loved the brown and light blue combo the most so picked Aishwarya for myself. Both shades are nicely pigmented and satin in finish. The blue shade has sorta duo chrome effect (pictured above) which I love.
They claim to have Vitamin E in them to help prevent signs of aging, and also crease and fade resistant. I found them to be pretty long lasting on my eyes without any eyeshadow primer or so. This shadow duo is my most favorite product among all Omorose product I have.
[wp_ad_camp_4][/wp_ad_camp_4]
Rosey Glow Cheek Tint
This is a gel blush tint that looks like totally a lip balm to me! This is not alike other cream blushes but very lightweight and thin in texture. Although it applies thing but gives just the right amount of tint.
They have 5 shade variety, I got Pretty Jessica, a vibrant rosy pink. Works better if you apply directly on the skin and blend with fingers and set it with a setting powder afterward. I use it as a go-to lip tint as well and works fine for y lips.
Omorose Lip Dressing
These are your regular tinted lip balm, comes in 7 flavors and shade. The twist up tube contains 5g of a product. I got the shade Raspberry Smoothie and watermelon. These balms are quite nourishing on the lip because they’re enriched with coconut oil, avocado oil, argan oil and Vitamin E. I like that these balms don’t slide off from the lips and gives a nice tint, however, I’m not a fan of how these smells.
You can buy Omorose product directly from their website (offers international shipping). They also have dedicated outlets in 1Utama and other places like that.
[/color-box]
Overall, I did enjoy trying out Omorose product. Their product quality has nothing to complain about. Although I feel their price range is a tad high. I also wish they had more shade in their foundation range.
Should you try?
Yes, you at least try their eyeshadow, wink!

Just took a long Eid holiday break and I’m back again. Hello, July! Gotta love the summer vibe all around. I’m living on white and all soft colors in my summer outfit this season. Regardless if it’s a daily go to or a festive day like Eid.
The whole theme of this look I’m sharing today was to keep everything fresh and airy.
As a Bengali, I can never ignore my love for a pure cotton salwar-kameez. I picked up this white kameez set from Warah BD earlier this year.
The elegant touch of crochet lace details and the drama of flared bohemian palazzo pant gives the outfit a summery perfection. The whole style of kameez is a true fusion of bohemian style for sure. Not to forget the crushed fabric dupatta that settles the airy look of the dress.
What a perfect summer outfit to just rock in the weekends or on a casual outing and also for any festive occasion if you’re opting for a minimal look!
As because I wore the dress for a festive occasion, Eid-Ul-Fitr, so I paired it with some silver accessories. I love silver jewelry, and they definitely go with white the best.
My earring is from Aarong, Bangladesh. This is such an old but timeless collection of mine. I bought it around 8/9 years ago. Love the dangling style and fine detail works on it. Same as the ring. A ring with a ruby stone surrounded by pearls is definitely 60’s style but fashion is always about coming back, no?
That almost gigantic bangle is from 6 Yard Story. Bought this very recently. The material of this bangle isn’t pure silver but mixed with some other metal. I absolutely love how unique this bangle is. I can also pair it with any other kind of outfit, from saree to western.
For my bag and shoe, I went with brown leather.
The sandal I got from Zalora, MY (15% off storewide, code: ZBAPZZQ5). Love the glass, colorful embroidery work and pompom details in it. I can also match it with a pair of jeans, midi or maxi skirts.
The bag is from Mango and just a regular shoppers bag. For a full day outing, a big bag is a must. I also needed to carry my camera around thus the shoppers style bag.
Considering this white summer outfit, I kept my makeup very simple. For the face I wore…
Estee Lauder Double Wear (4W2) mixed with Maybelline Fit Me (332)
Mac Fix+ (review here) and Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
Tarte Brow Mousse (rich brown), Catrice Brow Kit and NYX tinted brow mascara (review here) for brows
I kept my eyes very natural. Used the shade Laetus all over my lid from KVD Shade Light Eye Palette. Then applied Maybelline Color Tattoo, Inked In Pink, on my top lid. Lined my upper and lower lash line with Marc Jacobs RO(cocoa) Highliner Gel Crayon and then blended the liner with the shade Solas from KVD palette. Finished off with a generous amount of my all time favorite Benefit Roller Lash (review here) and They’re Real Mascara.
For the lips, I picked my recent favorite YSL Rouge Pur Couture (04). It’s a mauvy pink shade and gives a luscious but natural look. Nowadays I’m rediscovering my love for all those regular creamy lipsticks.
Last but not least, I wish you have a great start of the week. Do keep in mind that when choosing bohemian style summer outfit, try to keep everything else simple and soft. I hope you’ll love this summer outfit styling I created just as much as I do.
Is bohemian style Summer Outfit in your wish list?
It’s been long I’ve reduced the use of physical exfoliators from skincare routine. In 2015 I’ve struggled a lot with my skin. My skin was suffering big time due to sensitivity and dryness. At one point I felt having rashes became a permanent situation of my skin. In 2016, I stepped up my skincare with chemical exfoliants, mostly peeling solution/serums. My skin recovered from having rashes or such. Where Olay Regenerist Skincare range helped me significantly. From early this year, 2017, I’ve been into exfoliating toner which has AHA (alpha hydroxy acid), BHA (beta hydroxy acid), glycolic acid etc. Last month I was introduced to Paula’s Choice RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment AKA exfoliating toner with 2% BHA.
What is an exfoliating toner with BHA does?
BHA short form of Beta Hydroxy Acid or Salicylic Acid. This substance is simply an oil-soluble exfoliant. Which means BHA agent is more appropriate for an oily to combination skin.
It also works as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and skin conditioning agent. The skin care lover adores it especially when it comes to preventing age sign. BHA exfoliates the skin from the upper layer of skin, stimulates new cell growth. Research says, the right amount of BHA concentration helps to improve skin texture, collagen production, wrinkling, and hyperpigmentation.
Moreover, by removing the dead skin cells, a BHA exfoliant/toner enables the skin to absorb other anti-aging products (a targeted serum, moisturizers) to its maximum potential.
Ingredients of Paula’s Choice RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment:
The products claim to be completely gentle, non-abrasive on the skin. Promises to visibly refine pores and improve skin texture. Daily use of it can help to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, as well as unclogging and minimizing pores. Also claims to be effective in reducing acne breakouts, blackheads, and enlarged Pores.
[NOTE: Those allergic to aspirin (acetylsalicylate) should not use products containing salicylic acid/BHA.]
How I Use RESIST Daily Pore Refining Treatment:
This exfoliant is just like water, fragrance-free and non-sticky. I’m using it in my PM skincare only ever since I got it in hand. After washing my face I take a lint-free cotton pad, dispense 4-5 drops to soak the pad. Then apply all over my face and neck in an upward motion. Then I follow up with my other skincare stuff. I don’t use a regular toner since I’ve been into exfoliants. This alone does the job for me.
My Experience with Paulas Choice RESIST Daily Pore Refining Treatment:
I’ve used Paula’s Choice Earth Sourced Cleansing Gel earlier and fell in love. It’s been a pleasant journey with RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment as well so far. The toner went with my combination skin very nicely. I was able to notice a significant change within just 8/9 days.
First of all, the exfoliant felt gentle on my skin compared to the Pixi Glow Tonic I was using before that. It was more effective in taking off dead cells. I noticed a healthy glow within a short time. After using the toner there was always some dirty residue on the cotton pad no matter how well I cleaned my skin which gave me a feeling that the exfoliant surely cleanses pores from the deep inside.
My skin is behaving pretty good this year so I can’t really tell how it works on acne or such thing. About anti-aging benefits, I’m not sure either. Because, obviously, age lines don’t go away over the month.
Nonetheless, I’ve become a fan of this product. I already made up mind to continue using it. The only thing I wish if the toner was available in a bigger size bottle. The large amount available now is 88ml which runs out pretty fast. Hence, I highly recommend this exfoliating toner to those are over 30.
Are you using any exfoliating toner with BHA, AHA, Glycolic Acid or maybe Mandelic Acid toner? Which one is your favorite?

Bausch+Lomb Lacelle Jewel contact lens, monthly, aren’t new in the market, they have been here for quite long now. You must have noticed my previous post on Lacelle Diamond Daily lenses. I have been loving them for a long time now. The Champagne Brown and Aqua Glacier is my go to whenever I’m wearing color contact lenses.
Bausch+Lomb Malaysia sent me a pair of Lacelle Jewel contact lens in shade Sapphire Blue to try out, a couple of weeks ago. When I got this color I was so excited. This combination of deep blue, sorta black and gray I was really keen on and in fact been looking for a while.
Its a monthly disposable colored contact lend. They have 7 colors, Melanite Black, Topaz Brown, Crystal Grey, Amber Brown, Amethyst Violet, Sapphire Blue, and Peridot Green in their range. These lenses featured an unique jewel pattern that gives eyes depth and brilliance. They are made of polymacon, has .078mm thickness and water content of 38% that claims to assure comfort.
As I’ve been a fan of Bausch+Lom Lacelle diamonds daily so I was sure that I’ll enjoy their monthlies as well. But there comes the twist. The lens, not both but only the one of my right eye that has zero power turned out to be itchy. It was also moving all around my eyes. The other one in my left eye with (minus) -1 power was doing fine. The first day I thought it must be my problem, there might be some dust or so on the lens. And so late I cleaned the lens well and gave it another try.
The first day I thought it must be my problem, there might be some dust or so on the lens. And so late I cleaned the lens well and gave it another try. Sadly it was same itchy and intolerable. Then again, I gave it a third try but it was all same and my eye couldn’t even wear it for 5 minutes. I was kinda heartbroken as I liked the color so much.
I obviously trashed it at last. There was some issue with the lens for sure. It might be only with the one I had. Because the Bausch+Lom Lacelle Diamon daily lenses I’m using has never occurred such issue. It’s been more than a year continuously using them.
Have you had such experience? What is your favorite colored contact lens?

Haven’t you noticed the recent MAC SJYP collection? It just released there in Malaysia, almost right after the Fruity Juicy Collection. This fun and flirty collaboration of Korean design duo Steve J. and Yoni Pai caught my eyes too. The fun packaging combination of yellow, pink and graphic art, smoky-warm neutrals color palette, surely screams the vibe of Seoul street style. I couldn’t resist picking a product at least! Lipstick always attracts me the most. When I saw that they had Candy Yum Yum in this collection I just had to grab that. Although the signature lipstick shade of MAC SJYP collection is Yoni Crush, a red doesn’t really attract me much!
I thought to do a regular swatch & review post for Candy Yum Yum, what I always do for a lipstick. But then my makeup artist friend Kenny Yee’s (he is in the picture above :p) creation using all MAC SJYP collection caught my eyes. Got so amazed by the look he created for this collection. I’ve been always a fan of Kenny’s work ever since I met him, he is a Pro Makeup Artist here in Malaysia, of course, but this one was just fantastic, I must say! This is such a perfect creation of an Asian playful Asian look, don’t you agree?
I couldn’t resist sharing this look with you guys so you can have an overall idea about the MAC SJYP collection.
Thanks a bunch to Kenny for providing these snaps of this artwork and info about the product he used to create the look. Kudos to the Makeup Miracle Team for this beyond perfect job!
Now let me give you a bit of my thought on the Candy Yum Yum I got from this Limited Edition MAC SJYP Collection…
Who doesn’t know the MAC lipstick name Candy Yum Yum, right? I’ve heard this name to every MAC fan. In fact, most MAC Cosmetics love I know owns a Candy Yum Yum. This is literally a super famous permanent shade of MAC. My collection was without it until now.
Candy Yum Yum is a matte and neon (or I should say fluorescent) pink shade. I was kinda scared of the shade. MAC matte lipstick textures aren’t really consistent either. Some of them are nice and smooth to apply and some turn out waxy. Thus I wasn’t sure of this particular shade earlier.
I did buy the shade entirely for its limited edition packaging and sorta took the chance with the shade.I’m liking the shade actually to an extent but the matte texture turned out to be a too waxy one which I’m not really happy about.
The picture below is me wearing MAC Candy Yum Yum on my lip…
Overall, If you love fun colors and especially pinks the this MAC SJYP collection is your thing to check out. If your thinking to get an ever-so-famous Candy Yum Yum then this is the best time because you’ll get an uber pretty packaging as a bonus :p
