Wat is new in the market? Let me introduce you to the new Shizens VISAGE collection that launched early April. If you don’t know about this amazing Malaysian brand yet then have a look at my previous post where I talked about Shizens and its product a bit. The VISAGE collection is focused on bringing out our natural beauty without doing too much and the there is a two part in this collection; Skincare & Makeup. Today I’ll share my experience with the Shizens VISAGE makeup collection and show you how I got my fresh makeup using products from this new collection.

So, there are 6 makeup items in this collection, including their shade variety. I’ve got 4 product to play with.

Shizens Natural Pore Nutrient Foundation PRO | RM242

This is a jumbo sized foundation stick which is lightweight, sheer and talc free. Claims to be infused with vitamin E and work the best against fine lines and pore imperfection. Additionally, its comes with 2 blending sponge.

How cute is that top imprint?

The foundation stick has only one shade. I was told the color is adjustable to skin tone. But unfortunately, this didn’t go with my deep tan skin. I guess this Shizens foundation are made for Asian skin range only and definitely my south-Asian skin is way deeper and warm than that. So you can tell, I was not really able to use the foundation. For the base makeup, I’ve used my Laneige Pore control BB cushion in the shade 35 instead.

Shizens Hue-Duo Eyeshadow Palette – Sepia pink | RM136

Absolutely love this palette. This has a bright but sheer pink and rosy copper (kinda dusty) shade in it. Both shades are satin in finish, feels buttery upon application, gives no fallout and pigmentation is very satisfactory. It also comes with a sponge tip applicator which I never use but good to keep for an emergency makeup situation.

To create today’s eye look I’ve used the rose copper shade all over my eyelid then popped a bit of the pink shade just in the center. I’ve intensified the rose-coppe in the outer corner of my eyes but kept it blended in my crease. I’ve also applied the rose-copper shade on my lower lash line to create a rosy hue there.

I also use the pink shadow very lightly as my blush later on.

Shizens Aqua Liner – Brown | RM95

I was so excited seeing this cushion eyeliner pot. I never experienced a cushion liner before. The pot comes with 4g of product and a brush. I don’t prefer this kinda flat brush for my liner but I use them to apply my lipstick.
Inside the cushion, it is a liquid liner but the consistency of it is amazing. The color payoff is even and glides on the skin very smoothly just like a gel liner. It is lightweight, smudge proof and long wearing but dries fast. I love how easy it was to use because of the cushion format. I was able to pick just the right amount of product, unlike a gel liner pot.

The brown shade is a multitasker always. I’ve used the liner to fill up the gaps on my brow and used it as a liner, of course.
For my brows, I used my good old fav Tarte brow brush, had to work really fast, the short stroke of brows was drying quickly. For the liner used my Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush. Shizens Aqua Liner worked really good with both of the brush without creating any clump or mess.

The Aqua liner became my favorite product of Shizens VISAGE collection. Highly recommend it 🙂

Shizens Smack Lip | RM89

We all live for matte liquid lipstick, no? Say hello to Shizens version of liquid lipstick, called Smack Lip.
The shade I have is Cherry Blossom, is a bright pink and the lipstick smells something fruity. I appreciate the well-made packaging it as well when the square tube might look similar to a drugstore lipstick packaging but when you hold it, you’ll feel the quality.

This lipstick claims to be moisturizing but I feel it’s a bit drying on my lips. Also, gives me an empty inner rim (comes off from the center of the lip) and dry flakes very easily which I’m not really happy about!

So this is my final look (picture below) using all Shizens VISAGE makeup collection. I applied some mascara and bronzer as well to have a neat look.

My final verdict for this makeup collection is, it’s a hit and miss-equally. The shadow and the liner are definitely a hit, had to skip the foundation for the shade and the lipstick is a miss because it flakes.

10 Minute Makeup Box by Althea | Does It Really Helps Finishing Makeup In 10 Minutes?

Can you do a 10 Minute Makeup? I swear, I can’t. This term has been a fail for me. I take 5 to 8 minutes (sometimes more) to do my base makeup only and then there are my brow and eyes and so many things! I need minimum 30-45 minutes to do my makeup. Should I be guilty? Maybe, but I’m not! I like to spend my time on makeup and when I’m in rush I’ll wear my bare face without any hesitation haha.

So, a few weeks ago I got this Althea Trendy Box called ’10 Minute Makeup Box’. It felt a challenge at the beginning but I quit eventually and went with my flow!
And here I’m to share with you guys how I liked this 10 Minute Makeup Box by Althea Korea.

Esthetic House Pore & Balance Foam Cleanser

This is a foam cleanser but a face pack as well. It is instructed to leave on the face for 2 to 3 minutes, then massage and rinse off. Esthetic House Pore and Foam Cleanser come with 250g of product which is quite a lot. However, I find it as an average cleanser. It didn’t do much for me but just how a random drugstore cleanser would do.

Pure Smile Rich Flower Point Mask – Gerbera

This is a spot sheet mask pack, comes with 10 sheets soaked in 17ml of serum. Spot sheets are amazing for a quick cure to balance the skin hydration. I find them very useful, especially before makeup. This Pure Smile – Gerbera, in particular, is a satisfactory one as well.

Another day, (the picture above) I used this Pure smile spot mask on my cheek and forehead to amp up the hydration and on my nose and chin, I used a pore cleaning mask. Because a quick multi-masking always helps to get a smooth base.

Missha Cushion Compact – Shade 23

My Althea 10 minute makeup box came with a Missha Cushion compact in shade 23. This shade is way too light for my skin tone (for ref. NC42) so I wasn’t able to try this. So can’t really judge how it is, I just kept it to gift someone with fair complexion.

But for a 10 Minute makeup attempt(the last picture below), I’ve used my Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control that I’ve in my shade (35).

Rire Luxe Dual Contour Stick

I have got a mixed feeling about this Rire contour stick. I love the contour part, it glides and blends so well. Perfect for a quick contouring but I don’t like the highlighter part. The highlighter part gave me patchy finish when I tried to blend it.

Skinfood Mineral Sugar Palette – Berry Chiffon

This is my most favorite product from the Althea 10 Minute Makeup Box. Absolutely love the shade selection of this Skinfood Eyeshadow palette, They all are matte in texture, feels buttery-smooth upon application, the color payoff is pretty amazing.

The swatch you seeing above is applied with the brush it comes with and without any primer or so primer. However, they do gives a bit off fall out.

* I’ve decided to swatch shadow or other powder product with a brush from now on. Because I realized that we don’t really use fingers to apply the product but a brush. And swatch with finger application differs big time than a brush, so I felt to present my swatches as much realistic as possible.

I feel this Shadow palette is totally a compact size multi-tasker. I was able to do my brows, my liner and a sorta smokey eye look only with this palette. And obviously, I can do more varieties of eye look using this Skinfood palette only.

This one palette alone worth RM118, so with the Althea 10 minute makeup box it’s totally a bargain.

Blingsome Longlasting Lip Lacquer – Burgundy

This Blingsome Lip Lacquer is very interesting. I thought it’s a lip tint type thing but it’s actually a liquid lipstick. Yes, it dries out matte and stays all day. The color payoff is full and opaque, love it!

But I totally don’t like the packaging. As you can see in the picture above, it is a plastic tube overall. When you twist it from the bottom, the tube dispenses the product. I find it way too hard to apply the product from the stick itself. I had to apply this lipstick with a lip brush.

Overall thought about 10 Minute Makeup Box by Althea Korea

A few products I like in this box, a few I don’t and one product, the cleanser I think is totally unnecessary.

I did my makeup above using all the product from the 10 Minute Makeup Box by Althea, except the Missha Cushion and highlighter part of Rire contour stick. Was able to do my full eye using the Skinfood Shadow palette, where I was just missing a mascara. I felt in a makeup box A mascara would’ve been more appropriate than a cleanser.

However, I I judge my preference then for the shadow palette, lipstick and mask the ’10 Minute Makeup ‘Box by Althea isn’t bad. For them who has a fair complexion, Missha BB Cushion would’ve been a plus.

Get Rid Of Dull Skin with Neutrogena DEEP CLEAN Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub

If you’re following GreenStory on FB & IG then you must have noticed that I’ve been using a few Neutrogena Deep Clean product for quite some times now. Today I’ll be sharing about the one product I’m loving the most among all of them, the one I found really worth a shout out, Neutrogena DEEP CLEAN Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub.

I’ve been away from a physical facial scrub for a long time. In fact, the last facial scrub I tried I talked about it here in my Beauty Empties post. Although I was away from a physical facial scrub but I was never been away from exfoliating my skin in a daily basis. I opted for some different exfoliation method which I’ll talk about in a different post soon if you want(let me know).

After such a long gap with a facial scrub, when I tried Neutrogena DEEP CLEAN Daily Scrub for the first time (end of March’17) I literally fell in love with a facial scrub once again. I kinda felt I was totally missing a daily scrub in my skincare routine. Needless to say, it’s not about any facial scrub but particularly the Neutrogena DEEP CLEAN Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub that impressed me so much.

Before talking about the product itself I want to give you a short brief on why you must use a facial scrub in your skincare routine.

Causes of Dull Skin and Why Exfoliation Is Mandatory:

Having dull skin is one of the most common skin issues we all face once in a while. Dull skin is a when our skin doesn’t have that natural glow/radiance that it suppose to have.

There are a few common issues that cause dull skin. Such as dehydration, stress level, dirty environment, bad food habit, lack of nutrition and so on. There is also the normal cycle of skin regeneration. New skin cell grows underneath within 28-40 days depending on the age and hormone. Thus the dead skin piles up which makes our skin dull and lifeless.

How to get rid of dull skin?

We can easily take care of our food habit and all if we want, can’t we? If you’re lacking hydration you can amp up your water consumption and skin care routine or can follow some homemade hydrating masks to restore the hydration level.

Along with balancing food habit and all, the most effective step is exfoliate our skin and get rid of all those dry cells. There are a lot more ways to exfoliate skin but a daily facial scrub comes handy and cost effective, without any doubt!

Neutrogena DEEP CLEAN Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub is a water based, oil and soap free scrub. It’s a runny scrub, unlike usual scrub we see in the market which makes it easy to spread on the skin. Of course, it has micro-beads in it (picture above) as an exfoliating particle but they’re very gentle on the skin (depending on application) yet effective to get rid of dull skin cells. Has a sweet and pleasing scent in it as well.

The fact that impressed me the most is the scrub contains BHA [beta hydroxy acid, as known as salicylic acid], an oil-soluble ingredient which is very much preferred for oily to combination skin. BHA exfoliant makes a huge difference in terms of acne-prone, clog-prone, bump-prone and skin with large pores. BHA goes inside the skin and fights against all those skin issues. Thus if you have blackheads or whiteheads you can leave it up to your BHA exfoliant.

How I’m Using Neutrogena Deep Clean Daily Scrub:

Since the first day, I’m using this scrub in my morning routine. To start the day without any dead skin leaving behind but with a fresh glowing skin. First I use a cleanser to clean my face and then use this Deep Clean Backhead Eliminating Scrub. Massage my face with the scrub for a minute focusing on my nose and chin and then rinse off. I can’t deny how soft, smooth and somehow plumped my skin feels after every use. Afterward, I follow up with my other regular skincare item.
Additionally, I’ve been using it before applying my makeup (for a special event or such) to achieve a smooth face so my makeup goes on more effortlessly. Because, the simple science, our face/makeup looks more radiant when it’s smooth enough to reflect light.

Veet Sensitive Touch | ‘On The Go’ Hair Trimmer & My Thought

Have you read my previous post on the launch of Veet Sensitive Touch here in Malaysia? If you haven’t then you must have a look at that now or maybe after reading this one if you prefer.

I’m asking you to read that post because in that post I’ve already stated basics and what this new trimming device claims to do. In today’s post, I’ll give you a short overview of the device and tell you how was my experience with it.

Veet Sensitive Touch Eye Brow Hair Trimming Device

Veet Sensitive Touch Box Comes with 7 items:

Two-sided Trimming head fro brows – 16mm and 6mm
One-sided large Trimming Head (20mm)
2 comb attachment (2mm & 4mm) to uniform hair length
One cap for the short trimmer to protect the blade.
Cleaning brush – to clean the device and its blade.
A plain pouch to keep them all together.
1 x AA Battery to run the device.

Veet Sensitive Touch is a well made, easy to operate, girly and compact device in short. I love the fact that it comes with a battery in the first hand. Thus unlike other devices, I didn’t have to look for a battery to try it out. It has only one step power button at the power slider. If you rotate the bottom of the device to the ‘I’ pointer it will be powered up. ‘O’ pointer is off button and ‘T’ pointer is to remove the battery.

Except for the body of the device every other part are washable. So you can’t actually take the device in the shower with you.

The picture above is the large attachment of the Veet Sensitive Touch trimmer. That has a fitted comb attachment as well. This large head is to groom the hair on the bikini line, and for the underarm as well. You can adjust how you want to keep the hair length. For a close trim, you can use it without the comb head.

The Veet Sensitive Touch Brow Trimmer:

Now, this brow trimming head is the focus part of Veet Sensitive Touch. Which I, personally, was excited to try out. The long part of the blade is to trim the upper area of the brow. The short side of the trimming blade is to trim the inner part of the brow. The comb head it comes with is to trim the large hair of the brow to make them even.

My Experience with Veet Sensitive Touch Brow Trimmer:

As I said before, and in my previous article, I was very excited to try out the device on my own brows.

But let me tell you a bit about my brow preference before talking about the device. I’m very skeptical about my brows. It’s been 4 years, I stopped going to a saloon to tend my brows because I never liked that. I did try threading and waxing both not only in one saloon but actually, I have experienced from few countries. When I opted for threading I use to get different in shape every time. And when I waxed them, no one has ever been able to make me happy because those baby hair or ingrown hair will always remain in the same place.

Then I started doing it myself using a tweezer and a shaver of course! Firstly, I like my brows and overall perimeter of it to be pristine clean. Secondly, the right shape is very important to me. Although the natural shape of my brows is quite arch but I like them to be in a slight straight form with a medium (nothing too thin or thick) width.

Veet Sensitive Touch Eye Brow Hair Trimming Device | Before and After

Are you thinking why I’m saying all this?

Because I wanted you to know how I’m going to judge this new Veet Sensitive Touch brow device.

The first thing I want you to remind that this device is not a shaver but a trimmer. I was able to shape my brow hair nicely, in my desired shape. Have a look at my Before and After picture above a bit carefully.

What you see?

The brow has been re-shaped nicely using the long and short trimming blade the way it was instructed. However, the device actually failed to make my skin clean. The blades were not able to catch my baby hairs and ingrown hairs. Honestly, I didn’t like that at all.

But wait, let’s face it… Veet Sensitive Touch is not a shaver so that it will give me a clean skin. To be honest, I realized this fact after using the device.

The device is named ‘Sensitive Touch’ and it claims not to touch or cut the skin in any way and give a gentle trimming only. In that perspective, I was obviously expecting way too much from it.

So for an overall verdict, I’ll say, Veet Sensitive Touch is definitely come handy as an emergency tool / as an ‘on-the-go’ helper but this device doesn’t replace my normal brow tools or ritual. As because it’s a compact trimming device this will be my first preference for sure when I’m traveling.

At least, not in my experience.

It was hard to ruin them at the beginning but also it was hard to stay away without playing. If you’re reading GreenStory for a long time now then you know how much I love Sigma brushes. Mainly because of their bristles. You can use them literally with anything; cream or powder, you don’t have to worry a bit.

Let me give you a closer look at them…

Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush:

Let’s start with my good old favorite E40. Such an all-rounder blending brush. I can never finish my eye makeup without this and literally swear by it. My old one is almost 2+ years old and I’m so happy to get an extra spare one.
This tapered blending brush mainly helps to diffuse any off your eyeshadow. I use it to apply my transition shade, smooth out any harsh line and for an overall blending.

Sigma E70 Medium Angled Shading Brush:

E70 is a fluffy angle shaped brush. It comes handy if you want a V-shaped outer corner but with lots of smokiness. Or even you can also use it to softly pack shadows for a softer application.
One hack, I love to use this kinda brushes to apply my nose contour!

Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush:

A small angle brush is simple a multi-purpose brush for an entire eye makeup. The shape of E65 is so perfect (not too fat and not too thin) that you can easily use it for brows or to create a sharp winged liner.
I use this brush to smudge out my liner so I get a nice and soft edge.

Sigma E60 Large Shader Brush:

No matter how many you have already but a large shading brush is never enough. Because when we use multiple colors at once, we need a few shading brushes as well.
By the way, I also use a large shading brush to apply my concealer, especially when I’m spot correcting.

Sigma E55 Eye Shading Brush:

This is my another old favorite. To pack the color intensity, you must need a dense shader brush. to create a go-to look to any intense look its a must for me. I love them to apply and blend my cream shadows as well.

Sigma E30 Pencil Brush:

Where to use a pencil brush? if you’re creating a cut crease eye look, you’ll need this! For me to smoke out the lower lash liner, a pencil brush is a must. I’ve been using my Zoeva pencil brush but that doesn’t have entirely synthetic bristle so this E30 is my new fav.

Sigma E05 Eye Liner Brush:

I’m always more comfortable with an angle brush when it comes to eyeliner, no matter a gel liner or whatever! But I do sometimes use this type of plain liner brush. So far I have got a MAC liner brush and a Zoeva liner brush. If I forget about the Zoeva one then this E05 can totally comparable with my pricey MAC liner brush. Love it!

Breena Beauty VelvetCreme Review and Swatch | Are these liquid lipsticks worth buying?

Breena VelvetCreme, yes! VelvetCream, not Velvetines, read it right ya because I’ve been struggling to say them right as well…haha
Breena Beauty, a solely Malaysian Beauty Brand, very recently launched their liquid lipsticks in the market. The packaging gives me a hint of Dose Of Colors liquid lipsticks somehow but with their sleek gold accent design and all, it’s a cool one. After all, no amount of liquid lipstick is enough and these are very much of a budget friendly option. Where you might think of Colour Pop Ultra Mattes with a similar price but if you’re a fan of less drying ones then Breena VelvetCremes wins that term.

Breena VelvetCreme Liquid Lipstick Shades:

There are 9 shades in the Breena VelverCream range now.

Ccoclatte – Described as a warm brown, Swatches the same but turns a bill cooler on my lips.
Teddy – Described as a beige-peach. Such a pretty color and my favorite of all.
Peachcake – Describes as a nude peach. It looks more pinky nude on my lip.
Frosting – Describes as a pink mauve. However, it totally looks like a pastel pink on my lip.
Macaroon – Described as a beige pink.
Kindness – Brown berry, appears on my lip just the same. Love this shade.
Catlady – Described as a mid-tone berry. This is a very interesting shade. with bright light, it gives a hot-pink vibe.
Lady Boss – A bright red with a warm undertone. The shade almost feels neon.
Courage – Describes as a deep Maroon. I’ll say, it’s a blood-red shade.

I swatched them all with same makeup and well cleaned my lips before each swatch. For a note, my original lip color is nothing pinky or so, it’s quite on the dark side. Lip-swatch here you see not when the lipstick was dry but just after application.

My thoughts on Breena VelvetCreme:

I simply love the outer packaging of Breena VelvetCreme. Each lipstick tube contains a 7ml of product. They smell slightly vanilla-ish when I open the tube but while I apply them the scent goes away and I can only sense something chemical. Reminds me of LA Splash Lip Couture fragrance-wise slightly but fortunately, these aren’t that strong.

Breena VelvetCreme claims to be highly pigmented, they are yet all of the nine shades aren’t consistent, texturewise. Frosting and Lady Boss gives me hard time to get an even surface of color (I applied 3/4 coats here in the swatch). Where the shade Peachcake acts same as well but a tad better than those two. However, rest of the shades are excellent, they apply smooth and evenly. Once coat gives a light color opacity and a second coat is enough for the full opacity.

Breena VelvetCreams dries completely matte and takes a minute or so to dry completely. Good thing is, they aren’t much drying on the lip and they don’t flake, these are the fact I love the most about them. Their lasting powder depends, though. If you eat any oily food while wearing them, they wear off from the middle of your lips creating an empty circle. That’s not really a matter to me if I look at the price. Only a couple of my high-end lipstick brand can fight and win with oily food, for e.g. KatVonD Liquid lipsticks.

Another fact that I love that these doesn’t give me hard time taking them off either. My cleansing wipes do the work, sometimes I just need a bit of cleansing oil or balm, that it!

Overall, I’m quite happy with Breena VelvetCreme liquid Lipsticks. My favorite shades are Teddy, Cocolatte, kindness and Catlady. Macaroon and Courage is my 2nd favorite. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a budget friendly good matte lipstick. Rest are in my non-fav list because of their consistency, I hate to struggle when applying lipstick.

Sleek Makeup Highlighter Palette, Solstice | drugstore highlighter with high-end quality

If you read me regularly and are following me on my social media then you already know that Sleek MakeUP is now available in Malaysia since earlier this year. Thus, I got a few new Sleek Product [Courtesy of Sleek MakeUP, Malaysia] and been trying them out for quite a while now. This Sleek Makeup Highlighter Palette – Solstice is one of them and, of course, today I want to spread my thought about it to you all.

The packaging of it is GOLD… a big YASS for all gold lover, no? Yet it’s nothing fancy actually except the magnetic closer, which makes it super convenient. The palette contains total 9g of product which I think quite a lot to finish in one life haha. And yes, The brush it comes with is cheap and useless, trash it first if you want the best outcome from this palette.

Ingredients:

Mica, Talc, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Ozokerite, Magnesium Stearate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Nylon 12, Caprylyl Methicone, Paraffinum Liquidum, Polybutene, Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. May Contain +/- Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Red Iron Oxide (Ci 77491), Yellow Iron Oxide (Ci 77492), Black Iron Oxide (Ci 77499), Ferric Ferrocyanide (Ci 77510).

4 shades of Sleek Solstice palette are: [from top left]

Ecliptic – a dusty pink, sometimes feels an off-champagne shade and a cream highlighter. intensity is buildable and has a very smooth finish.
Hemisphere – a lilac pink and this one is the most popping shade of this palette.
Subsolar – a pastel yellow shade. This is a perfect shade for anyone who wants to glow in the dark :p The finish of this one feels a bit more packed and smoother than other two powder shade.
Equinox – a champagne shade, very must suitable for tan skin like mine but buildable to any opacity.

My Experience with Sleek Highlighter Palette solstice:

First of all, I just love that it has color variation along with 2 different finish. The shade selection so amazing that, literally, everyone with any skin tone will find palette useful. Wear time of these highlighters are great as well. I find the cream shade, Ecliptic, last on my skin until the end. However, I’m not a cream highlight lover so I tend to reach for this shade the least.

Equinox has quickly become my go-to shade because it’s the most suitable one for my tan skin and the most subtl the one in finish. Sometimes I mix it with the shade Subsolar or Hemisphere to create variation.

Each of them is fine and smooth in texture, glides/blends easily without leaving any chunkiness. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t compare them with the smoothness of a high-end highlighter. Yet, only the cream shade, Ecliptic, feels and applies better on my skin than Benefit Watt’s Up.

A less dense brush works better with these highlighters because they’re seriously metallic. If you go a tad overboard they’ll be way too much. I love to use my Sigma Strobing Fan brush[F42] or High Cheekbone[F03] to work with powder highlighters here. For the cream one, I prefer my Beauty Blender mini.

Overall, Among all the drugstore highlighters I’ve tried so far this palette turns out to be the best. In fact, I must mention, the highlighter comes with sleek contour kit or face form is nothing even close to this one. I wasn’t sure before trying out this palette why people rave about it so much but now I totally know the fact.

If you’re looking for the best highlighter within a pocket-friendly price then, without any doubt, Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette is the one to grab.
