Pohela Boishakh Makeup Tutorial | Bengali New year 2016

What is Pohela Boishakh (14th April in English calendar)?
Pohela means First and Boishakh is the First month of Bangla calendar. Pohela Boishakh is literally the first day of the month of Boishakh AKA the Bengali New Year. This is the biggest celebration of Bangladesh and for all Bengali around the world. It’s a day we Bangladeshi gather, celebrate and welcome the brand new Bangla Year with all shades of color along with traditional Red and white. There is also some vital part of this celebration like Foods, Panta-Ilish (slightly fermented water soaked rice and Hilsha Fish fry), Fair, Dance, Rally(Mongol ShovaJatra), Face paint, Street Paint and a lot more. This is that one unique day when we forget our differences, walk together and enjoy the cultural belief side by side. Being a Bangladeshi I truly miss being in my motherland on this particular day. That festive feeling, happy faces and joy you can never get anywhere else.

Ofra Liquid Lipsticks | Lip Swatch & Review

38

My liquid lipstick love started with Stila Liquid lipstick. Regardless of whatever came in my way Stila was always the best find to me until then when for the first time I’ve tried Ofra liquid lipstick. Two main reasons behind that; one: Ofra liquid lipsticks aren’t drying on lip, two: they feel light weight on lip. Stila also has the similar quality but Ofra is better compared to that. I’m a liquid lipstick fan but I don’t not like those lipsticks which cracks after drying or after a couple of hours ( for example I can name Lime Crime and LA Splash).

I bought my first Ofra Liquid Lipsticks in shade Miami Fever end of last year (If you’re a regular reader then you know it was in my 2015 favorite list) then I fell in love and bought the other five shade. If you’re following me on my facebook fan page or Instagram (if you don’t, I think you totally should) then you must have seen me wearing these Liquid Lipsticks. However today I thought to share my complete thought on Ofra Liquid Lipsticks and swatches all together here in this article.

Ofra Liquid Lipsticks Swatches

  • Atlantic City:
A bright true red with a blue undertone. It looks deeper in the tube but pops up when applied. Depending on skin tone might appear more vibrant. Suitable red shade for any skin tone.
  • Venice:
Venice is a red-orange shade with a strong yellow undertone. It’s almost a furious shade so best for brave people hehe 😀
  • Santa Ana:
It’s a very pretty mauvy-pink shade leaned to berry tone. I believe this shade is a great one for every skin tone. In fact, it has become my go-to color nowadays!
  • Paris Rendezvous:
This is a limited edition color and only comes with the ‘Four Shade of Romance’ collection. It’s a plain coral pink. I find it quite flirty and suitable for everyday use from office to date 😛
  • Miami Fever:
Everyone knows about Miami Fever, isn’t it? One of the most raved lip shade among all Ofra liquid lipsticks! I have to admit Miami Fever does worth the hype. The shade is quite unique, it look kinda terracotta but brighter than that has brownish tone but leans to orange. I love this shade, however, sometimes I feel Miami Fever makes my skin tone look dirty (I don’t know how to explain that properly) or I should say, makes me look tired! But whatever it is, I love this shade.
  • Americano:
It’s a pure brownish shade slightly leans to the red side. This shade completes my need whenever I feel for a dark lip. Although it is a deep shade but not a vampy dark shade, it’s more of a wearable shade of deep brown.

Ofra Liquid Lipsticks Lip Swatch

My thoughts on Ofra Liquid Lipsticks:

Ofra Liquid Lipstick tube comes with 8g of product (which is written only in their website), the packaging is also totally basic. My first one (Miami Fever) came with a poly-sticker written the shade name over it but nowadays they have slightly different packaging, the prints are now actually printed on the tube. Luckily the doe-foot applicator was good in quality from the beginning, it’s sturdy and smooth enough to give a nice application. The lipstick has kind of a caramel-ish sent in it. If you’re interested in their ingredient, that can be found in the paper box that the tube comes in. Otherwise, I couldn’t find any mention of the ingredient even on their website. Ofra claims to have Vitamin E and antioxidant in their lipstick.

Let’s talk about the lipstick. Ofra Liquid Lipsticks has a matte formula, they aren’t shiny at all. Once applied they turns matte within a minute or so but they don’t dry overly matte. The texture of the liquid is mousse-like, they all are highly pigmented, glides on easily, one swipe is enough for the fullest coverage, doesn’t bleed, non-sticky and stays put throughout the day. As because they don’t dry out completely, they do transfers on cups or glasses but they don’t come off completely so that you’ll have an empty inner lip rim after a couple of hours. Also, even if you eat oily food your lipstick will be there unlike the way other liquid lipsticks would perform. I find these lipsticks are very comfortable and easy to wear because they are incredibly lightweight and creamy. they don’t settle between lip lines or flakes so I never needed to reapply whenever I wore them. They are easy to remove as well, you don’t need to rub off your lips to the death but a normal lip makeup remover will do the job.

Overall, I love Ofra Liquid Lipstick and the shade range they offer. I’m surely getting a few more soon. However, I think Ofra Cosmetics should consider some elegant packaging for these lipsticks. I truly don’t have any problem with current packaging as long as the product itself is A-class but who doesn’t like to look at beautiful packaging?

By the way, Have you tried Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks? Which one is your favorite shade?

SilkyGirl Brow Liner | Dark Brown | Review & Swatch

28

I never got the chance to try any high-end brow product till now because there is already so many good budget friendly brow product available in the market. I have been so hooked with Catrice Brow Kit since last year and also tried a few of Maybelline Fashion Brow Pencil. Happy dance! I have found another great drugstore brow product recently. A couple of weeks ago I just randomly picked up SilkyGirl brow liner while doing grocery shopping. It was only RM22 and the sharp angle edge of it really intrigued me to give it a try.

By the way, SilkyGirl also has a pencil type brow liner, so this one particularly called ‘Hi-Definition’ liner.

SilkyGirl Brow Liner

There are three shades of SilkyGirl Brow liner available in the market, black, deep brown and light brown. Although my brow hair is black but I prefer to draw my brows in a lighter shade to achieve a softer look! Thus, I picked up deep brown for me. This brow liner is an automatic twist up pencil, by far the creamiest one among all drugstore brow pencil I have tried so far, nicely pigmented as well. I obviously bought it seeing the sharp angle edge of it but apparently that sharp edge goes off after the first use. I wish it would remain in that shape forever (somehow! at least) because it was really easy and defined to mimic the brows with that sharp edge.

You get .35g of product in this SilkyGirl Brow Liner. The wax consistency in this brow is also satisfying and last throughout the day. As because it is creamy enough so it glides on very smoothly, thus, makes it quick to fill up sparse areas. Though it is a creamy stick but the stick didn’t break on me till now.

SilkyGirl Brow Liner

As and added bonus, SilkyGirl brow liner has a spoolie brush attached at the other end of the pencil. If you’re a makeup fanatic like me then you know how important a good spoolie brush is when it comes to defining brows. I was amazed seeing the quality of the spoolie bristles here. They are nice and soft, has fine cut and perfectly groom my brows. Since I have this liner I don’t reach for my other spoolie brush which definitely saves my time!

SilkyGirl Brow Liner
Brows are drawn with the SilkyGirl Brow Liner in shade deep brown only.

SilkyGirl Brow liner has been my go-to lately. For everyday and natural look I don’t use anything over it but if I’m doing something dramatic or opting for any special look I do define my brows a bit more with my Catrice Brow Kit and NYX Eye Brow tint.

As I mentioned earlier, SilkyGirl Brow Liner is nicely pigmented so one stroke of it is enough to fill desired space. Therefore, I can already feel, even if I use this every day, this liner will last me, at least, one and half month.

Have you tried SilkyGirl Hi-Definition Brow Liner? If you didn’t and looking for a pocket-friendly good brow pencil then I highly recommend you to give it a try.
What is your current favorite brow product? …I would love to know 🙂

Bronze Gold with Bright Green Eye Makeup | Tutorial

Hey there beautiful… today I’ve quite a dramatic and a grungy bronze gold smokey eye with a touch of bright green look to share with you. Initially, I wanted to create a spring inspired makeup but I’m still into deep winter color mostly deep brown and all. Though I thought of spring at the beginning I ended up creating a grungy- smokey look!

Also putting a bright popping color in the eye contour area and the lower lash wing is my favorite style to wear so I thought you might get inspired by this as well.

This look might feel a bit too much for random wear but I feel if you pair it up with a nude lip and light clothing then this can be very fun to wear at any party. Center of attraction in this bronze gold smokey eye is obviously in that green part so it is better not to go overboard with other colors that you’ll be using on your face.

Let’s have a look at the product list that I used to create this bronze gold smokey look…

Camera Ready Cosmetics | Haul & Experience

16

Hie there beautiful, how you doing? After quite a long time I’m here writing a haul post, it’s not that I haven’t been shopping, haha, but those weren’t anything special that is informative and helpful until today. As you can tell from the title it’s about my shopping experience with Camera Ready Cosmetics. I thought to share my shopping experience with Camera Ready Cosmetics because this was my first ever purchase on the site, I’m uber excited and I truly feel I must share my thought with you guys.

Are you hearing the name ‘Camera Ready Cosmetics’ for the first time? I assume No, by chance if you don’t know about them then let me tell you…

Who/what is Camera Ready Cosmetics?

Camera Ready Cosmetics is a USA based online makeup store, founded in 2003 by Makeup Artist Mary Erickson, that sells mainly PRO makeup product and also some Indie brand. If you know slightly more about makeup then you already know what I meant by PRO makeup, these are those that a normal makeup user wouldn’t possibly need. Like an example, RCMA, Graftobian color palette or SFX kits, airbrushing tools and else. In my knowledge, there are many physical PRO stores in the states but when you are an international most of the time it is obvious to rely on online shopping. And then it comes to the product authenticity, there is a counterfeit product all around and we often get confused, don’t we? Camera Ready Cosmetics is the authorized dealer of all the brands they carry and sells only 100% authentic product. They also offer a vast range of brand so it is more like a one-stop shop for PRO makeup item.

My experience with Camera Ready Cosmetics:

I aways wanted to shop from Camera Ready Cosmetics but never really needed anything that a random makeup lover like me would need from a pro store until now.

I wanted to try Ben Nye powders so badly. Ben Nye is definitely not available everywhere and I didn’t want to buy it from third party seller to avoid getting a fake product. Also, when it comes to makeup I hardly rely on eBay or Amazon. So Camera Ready Cosmetics was the first thing came up in my mind. But I’m always hesitant when it comes to online shopping and international shipping. I hate waiting months for a product. Trust me, I took really long to decide whether I should get them from CRC or not. Then finally, I did opt for it. Most of the USA based online shop charge really high even for a normal first class shipping but the shipping fee on CRC is pretty reasonable and they also provide tracking code.

Camera Ready Cosmetics

I bought…

  • Ben Nye Banana Powder – $22 (3oz)
  • Ben Nye Neutral Set Powder – $7 (1.5oz)
  • Ben Nye Media PRO Concealer – $9.50
  • Z-palette magnet sticker – $5

There was no extra charge or else and my shipping charge was $13.99. I loved how they came in, with a nice sturdy box, all my product were secure and intact inside. It took 2 days to get the shipping confirmation after I placed my order on CRC. Then it was roaming around within the USA for 10 days (I’m not sure why). At the 10th day my package departed from the US and the next week I got my delivery. Roughly, my order took around 18 days to reach me which I think is pretty normal for any international shipping.

So overall my shopping experience with CRC was pleasant. The worry I had before is completely gone and no doubt I’m going to shop from CRC again and again. If you are a makeup lover and looking for some stuff that isn’t easily available to you I highly recommend having a look at CRC website. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

By the way, I will update you soon with my thoughts on these Ben Nye products. So stay connected 🙂

Paulas Choice Earth Sourced Cleansing Gel

18

A few years ago I got to know about the brand Paulas Choice via Allure Beauty on youtube. Later on, I came across many other bloggers/YouTuber that loves Paulas Choice skincare product for its natural and skin friendly product.

Paulas Choice is a skincare brand based in the USA. Unlike other mainstream cosmetic brands, Paula’s Choice focuses not on marketing and untrue claims, but on cosmetic science education to the public, products with clinically proven ingredients that really work for the skin, and the customer-first philosophy.

I always wanted to try the Paulas Choice skincare product (who doesn’t want less chemical for their skin!). Sadly, it was always out of my reach because it’s a USA based brand. However, finally, I got to try a Paulas Choice product that is their Earth Sourced Perfectly Natural Cleansing Gel. Needless to say, how excited I was when I got it in hand!

About the packaging, I’ve nothing much to say but I like it. Not any cheap plastic container that is wrapped up with a plastic paper label but very good and sturdy packaging. The print, direction, label, and everything are sealed in the container itself.

Paulas Choice Say’s about the cleanser:

This exceptionally gentle gel cleanses your skin while preserving its natural protective barrier. Removes debris and makeup quickly and easily, leaving your skin perfectly clean and radiant-looking. Formulated with only natural ingredients that soothe and smooth your skin as you cleanse. Earth Sourced Perfectly Natural Cleansing Gel contains only natural ingredients proven to be gentle, yet effective without causing redness, flaking, or other signs of irritation. Contains no animal-derived ingredients of any kind. Packaging is 100% recyclable.

This cleansing gel is ideal for most skin types, especially normal, sensitive, combination, and oily skin. It is specially formulated for those who prefer skincare products made from natural ingredients that are proven safe and effective.

Paulas Choice Earth Sourced Cleansing Gel

The best characteristic of Paulas Choice product’s is, they are all sort of bad ingredient free; like alcohol, dye, fragrance etc.

The ingredients list of Paulas Choice Earth Sourced Cleansing Gel

  • Key Ingredients:
glucose, glycerin, coco-glucoside, decyl glucoside, glyceryl oleate
  • Product Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Decyl Glucoside (coconut-derived cleansing agent), Glycerin (skin-repairing ingredient), Sodium Cocoamphoacetate (coconut-derived cleansing agent), Lauryl Glucoside (plant-derived cleansing agents), Xanthan Gum (plant-derived thickeners), Coco-Glucoside (plant-derived cleansing agents), Glucose (sugar-based water-binding agent), Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate (plant-derived cleansing agents), Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate (plant-derived cleansing agents), Glyceryl Oleate (plant-derived emulsifier), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (water-binding/soothing agent), Carrageenan (plant-derived thickeners), Sodium Phytate (synthetic chelating agent), Citric Acid (fruit-derived pH adjuster), Ethylhexylglycerin (synthetic skin-conditioning agent), Phenoxyethanol (synthetic preservative), Potassium Sorbate (plant derived preservative).

Paulas Choice Earth Sourced Cleansing Gel

My experience with Paulas Choice Earth Sourced Cleansing Gel:

I have been using this cleanser for a month now and I not yet close to finishing half of the bottle. A little of this cleanser goes a long way. Texture wise it is a clear gel but runny in consistency but it’s not super thin or runny. It is very easy to spread on the skin, doesn’t lather up much and perfectly goes with my Clarisonic MIA2.

Earth Sourced Cleansing Gel by Paulas Choice works great or removing makeup as well.

I take a generous amount in a cotton pad then gently work with my makeup face. This cleanser easily melts down my foundation and liquid lipstick with a few swipes; waterproof mascara takes a bit more work. After removing the makeup I go over again normally with the cleanser and rinse off my face. As because it doesn’t lather up much, it is so easy to rinse off. My face feels absolutely clean, oil-free, hydrated and smooth after every use.

Though it says it’s a fragrance-free product, somehow I smell fermented coc0nut in it (very unusual smell but it is soothing) haha… probably it’s because of the natural ingredients.

I have combination skin and my skin has been loving this Earth Sourced Natural Cleansing Gel lately. I won’t say it has become my HG cleanser but I agree with all benefit it claims and I truly fell in love with it. It is truly gentle to the skin and effective in work. For those who are a Clarisonic user like me, I’m happy to state that this is a fantastic Clarisonic Compatible cleanser. And obviously, I highly recommend this cleanser to everyone who is looking for a good, natural, kind to skin cleanser.

Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact | High Coverage with SPF 50+

34

Lancome recently released the expansion to its Cushion Compact family with the launch of the Blanc Expert Cushion HIGH Coverage with SPF 50+/PA+++. The highlights of this cushion compact are, it is long wearing with high coverage, comes with a new Polar™ technology (patent pending) designed to adapt to a higher coverage texture and gives a lively rosy complexion.

There is also some major upgrade; the reinvented sponge cushion covered with a unique mesh.

  • The sponge cushion: it is made up of interwoven fibres that offer more space for the formula thanks to larger cavities. The stiffness of these fibres also allows optimal retention of the formula at the heart of the sponge.
  • The mesh: covering the sponge and activated on first use, it filters the formula to ensure fine, even application, while helping to maintain its freshness.

Lancome also says this is an innovative skin care and makeup trio to combat the seven environmental factors of the “Exposome”, including blue light, and restore the complexion’s rosy glow. A three-step routine characterised by freshness, and combining – depending on its products – pigmentation-correcting actions and surface-covering actions:

  1. Blanc Expert Beautiful Skin Tone Brightening Cream, skin care designed to correct and even out the complexion.
  2. UV Expert XL-ShieldTM CCCover SPF50 PA +++ tinted protection to combat blue light and pollution.
  3. Last but not least, Lancôme has once again demonstrated its ability to innovate by creating the first high coverage cushion, a real technological challenge. Blanc Expert Cushion Compact High Coverage SPF 50 /PA+++ is the meeting between Lancôme’s complexion expertise, its mastery of the best filters to protect the complexion, and travel- friendly technology that prioritises freshness and lightness. Three supposedly incompatible benefits that have now been combined.

Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact. New High Coverage Formula With SPF 50+

My experience with Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact:

I absolutely love the packaging and new development this year. The mesh and the cushion look more luxe and well made in this new one. No doubt, it feels good to see a firm mesh rather than that old scrappy sponge cushion. Other than the cushion and mesh, the packaging is same as always.

The new Lancome Blanc Expert High Coverage Cushion Compact comes in a 7 different shade specially formulated for Asian Skin tone. As far as I can remember Lancome first launched their first cushion compact back in early 2015. I was quite intrigued by it then but sadly they didn’t have my shade (they had only four shade last year) in the range. I was really hoping I’ll find my shade this time but alas! Though they have 7 shades in the range but none is there to fit my medium-tan skin. Whereas Lancome USA/UK has vast shade variation for women of colours.

The Shade I got (PR Sample) is BO-01 (picture below) is the lightest shade among all, it’s a beige tone in it.

Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact Swatch. New High Coverage Formula With SPF 50+

There is more pinkish and yellowish shade that can perfectly go with Asian/fair to a fair-medium skin.
Though the shade didn’t match my skin but I did try the product to see how it works. I used it on my undereye area and high points of my face (those usual highlight areas) instead of concealer for a week. The coverage of this foundation is genuinely impressive. I didn’t have to wear any extra concealer (I don’t have major dark circle issue) afterwards when I used this. As because I have fine lines under my eye, I did set the foundation with powder to prolong its lasting power. This cushion compact is long lasting, stayed on me 6/7 hours, however, I don’t think it will last flawlessly more than that. The cushion compact gives a demi-matte finish wich I loved and I think it will go perfectly with normal to combination skin type.

I find it high coverage only compared to a cushion foundation  but not high coverage if compared with a normal foundation (liquid or stick). If I judge it among all foundation types, it gives medium to slightly buildable coverage.

Lastly, I really wish they had my shade/shade range like UK/USA. If Lancome had my skin shade, this new high coverage cushion compact would definitely become my go to. I love how it applies and looks on the skin and it has enough sun protection for daily use.

[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]

Lancome also launched their first cushion blush along with the cushion compact foundation. The blush offers in 7 shade variety, loved them! Might gonna get some soon, if I do I’ll surely share my thoughts on those with you guys 🙂

Kose SEKKISEI Skincare | Special Edition Trial Kit & Thoughts

14

Kose is one of the most renowned Japanise skincare company, since 1946, and Sekkisei is one of the most loved brand name under their hood. If you are familiar with Asian skincare then, I assume, you probably know them already. It’s not been long I myself got into Asian skincare and at this point, I’m very happy to try out such good stuff like Kose Sekkisei skincare. There is always something different and interesting about Asian skincare range that never fails to impress me. As you can already tell I’m going to share with you guys about my experience on a few of Kose Sekkisei skincare product.

I have been using this special edition of Sekkisei trial kit for about three weeks now. As a trial kit, this isn’t really that small but most of them are in deluxe size so I was able to accumulate my complete thoughts on them. So without blabbering much, let’s talk about the product…

[wp_ad_camp_3][/wp_ad_camp_3]

Sekkisei Emulsion:

Kose Sekkisei EmulsionKose Sekkisei Emulsion

I have a 100ml of product here, the packaging is just the same like the full-size (140ml) one. The emulsion is very thin and liquidy in texture yet very rich in moisture. Absorb quickly deep into the skin and feels very refreshing. As we know emulsion is supposed to use before moisturizer but for this one, I didn’t feel that I need to use a moisturizer over it because this emulsion itself is quite intense.
It claims to prevent freckles, dark spot and dryness. Yes, it does works on recovering dryness however I’m not sure yet if it’s works on preventing dark spot.

Focus ingredients: Inula Britannica Flower, Chinese Pearl Barley, Paeonia Albiflora Root, Melothria Heterophylla and Angelica

Sekkisei White Liquid Wash:

Kose Sekkisei Liquid Wash

The texture of this face wash is exactly like the emulsion, thin but very creamy, almost feels milky on the skin. I love the after feeling as well, it cleanse without drying out the skin and leaves skin hydrated. It claims to be enriched with Rubus Suavissmus Extract that enhances skin dullness and soothes UV damage. With every use skin is restored to its optimal condition, ready for the next skincare step.

Sekkisei Clear Whitening Mask:

Kose Sekkisei Clear Whitening MaskKose Sekkisei Clear Whitening Mask

This is probably the one peel off mask that I like so far. Generally, I don’t like peel-off masks, I find them very critical to remove. Sekkisei Clear Whitening Mask is very gentle to skin, spreads evenly, dries out to perfection and proper elasticity so it is very easy to remove. Top of that it cleanse pores nicely and doesn’t get that hard so you’ll feel uncomfortable. It claims to brighten and hydrate at the same time! Infused with Chinese Quince extract that inhibits sebum production on, while a blend of oriental plant extracts delivers supreme whitening benefits. Nano-sized black powder allows the mask to spread easily.
The trial pack of this mask gave me four use and I’m kinda considering it to continue.

Sekkisei Lotion:

Kose Sekkisei Lotion Kose Sekkisei Sheet Mask

This SEKKISEI lotion is their best seller product. I don’t know why they call it lotion when it totally looks and acts like a toner. But it can be used as a toner and as a mask. The trial pack came with a few dry sheet mask tablet. It was ment to be used with the lotion. You need to soak up the mask tablet with the lotion and then put it on the face like all other sheet masks. I loved how soft and thin the mask fiber itself was (I already used up all).
The lotion looks exactly like water(or I should say like all other toners), clear and runny. I use it now as a toner, soak up a cotton pad with it, then apply it after cleansing my face and before the emulsion. It doesn’t feel creamy or oily in the skin, leaves skin hydrated and the fresh floral scent never fails to refresh my mind.
Sekkisei lotion contains Coix Seed, Angelica, Melothria and more ingredients which are carefully selected out from 100 types of oriental plants, that plays a vital role in balancing the skin’s moisture level and brighten it up from within. This one has been my ultimate favorite among all these Sekkisei products.

Overall, it has been a nice experience so far with all Kose Sekkisei skincare product. Nothing occurred any skin issue but I’m so much in love with the lotion and emulsion. Definitely, will continue using them once I finish my current bottle. If you’re somehow struggling with your skin you might give Kose Sekkisei skincare a try as because they are mild, effective and kind to skin.

If you aren’t familiar with Sekkisei then you must be wondering about the brand. The motto of Sekkisei is ‘Glow From Within’. Setsuko (pic of the girl) – an icon with a fun-loving, bubbly personality, well-loved by Japanese SEKKISEI fans. Setsuko’s name means ‘little snow’ in Japanese; a perfect match with the brand’s commitment to bringing snow-white skin to women all around the world… Interesting, isn’t it?

And lastly, I have to appreciate the brand’s effort(I couldn’t resist sharing) on how they sent me the goodie pack! It was such a surprise seeing the huge box filled with love! I guess it represents the characteristic of Setsuko, haha🎈
